At what age do you know if DC is a righty or lefty?
I am pretty sure DS is going to be a lefty.
Ever since he was a baby, he always favored his left hand more.
This is getting more and more pronounced now when he eats. He will pick up food/puffs with his right hand too but his first response is his left hand.
Last week he started to be interested in the spoon. First reflex was the left hand.
I know they say it's supposed to be later but I can already see it.
How am I going to teach him knitting now?

I spoke to an Occupational Therapist who told me not to be so certain until he is 5 or 6. However, my mom insists that she knew I was a lefty when I was just a few months old. I suspect Dylan is a lefty but it is not as extreme as what my mom has described.

Re: At what age do you know if DC is a righty or lefty?
I was just talking to someone today about this. DD is 13 months and does EVERYTHING lefty!! I know they say it's too soon, but I have a feeling she is lefty. When she's feeding herself, if she uses the left hand to hold the spoon, she easily gets it in her mouth 95% of the time. Using her right, not nearly as much.
Neither DH nor I are lefties so I am a little afraid about teaching her to write, and use scissors, and general crafts.

I am an OT and I also tell parents by 5 or 6...by 4-5 years though you can pretty much see if they are using one hand more then the other

DD definately favors her right hand, but she will still occasionally pick up a crayon with her left and start drawing. At first we thought she might be ambidextrous ( ) but then realized she was probably still trying to figure it out.
