Is it wise to buy gender neutral bouncy seat, carseat, etc for future children even if you know the sex? (Also added age ?)
I was thinking, even though we know it's a girl, it is smarter to buy gender neutral items such as a bouncy seat, rocker, swing, car seat, high chair, etc? Those type of things?
I don't even know what's out there, I have to start looking more seriously. But I just wanted to see what you ladies thought. What kind of things are best to buy gender neutral (not bedding of course, or even furniture) for possible future children?
Or do some items become outdated at some point?

I'd love to know the answer to this too! Part of me thinks buying gender neutral items (bouncy, rocker, etc.) would make more sense if you plan to use them for future children that might be a different gender. Then again, I'm sure I'll want "girlish"/"boyish" items when the time comes!!

Yes. The way I look at it many of the things aren't used that long to begin with so you might as well be able to reuse them with the next baby.

We bought all that stuff gender neutral. We didn't find out the sex of our first (or of this one) and we knew we would want additional children sooner, rather than later. If you know this is your only one or if there will be a few years in between, go for the gender specific. Otherwise, you are better off sticking with the gender neutral stuff

I found out the sex with both of my pregnancies. For the big ticket items, I went gender neutral. I am glad that I did, because now I can use them again.

Does anything become outdated or obsolete? Or new and improved? I guess that is what I wonder about too.
Thanks!

We knew we were having a girl but went gender neutral on the high chair, swing, car seats, stroller, bouncer & stuff. We definitely plan on using all for #2.
I think the only thing I'd worry about is the car seat/infant carrier IF you plan on waiting a while in between children.

I went pretty gender neutral the first time around. We bought the ocean wonders aquarium high chair and swing which is what I considered neutral. Either way I ended up with another boy!

As a BTDT mom of a girl and now a boy, I would suggest gender neutral. Most of my stuff was, except for the two Britax carseasts, which I now have to buy new covers for.

Most of the big, more expensive items we registered/bought gender neutral. we plan on having more children and want to be able to use the big items again.

Ok so gender neutral is the way to go.
Next question:
What age do children not need most of these baby items? Am I making sense? I am so confused!

I knew what I was having the first time around and still went gender neutral on all of the things that my next would be using such as highchair, swing, bouncy, exersaucer. Best decision I ever made because 2 years later I am having a boy!

My answer is - for me, Yes I am not planning on buying another one of each 2 years from now just to have a blue one instead of pink or vice versa
But there are people who choose to do so

it depends
many baby items go by the child's weight rather than age

Ok I didn't think of that (weight). Good point!
That makes sense. I guess we better start looking and see what each item says.

Re: Is it wise to buy gender neutral bouncy seat, carseat, etc for future children even if you know the sex? (Also added age ?)
I think it is very wise to buy those items gender neutral. I don't know what I'm having yet but I feel that it would be more beneficial to have those items neutral because I want to have another child soon after this one. I"m only having 1 shower so I don't wanna have to go out and buy those thigns all over again. My SIL still has clothes, bassinet, swing and other items from her pregnancy 10 years ago and they're still in very good shape, so if I only have to wait a year or two for another child it would be worth it to go neutral. You're gonna dress them according to their gender anyway, why have everythign pink or blue? Here is the collection I registred for at BRU. XOXOXOXO BOTB Image Attachment(s):

Here is a quick list of some of the items I used/using w/ my 4mo DS...
Infant carrier - I had the peg perego and unfortunatley both DD and DS were out of this seat by 2 months. The seat was just too hot and DC would just sweat and be very uncomfortable. I know that many people use the infant seat for a very long time (I am very jealous of that ) but w/ both of my DC they were out at 2 months and in the convertible seat.
Bouncy seat - used from day one, and still using.
Swing - I would say at about 8-10 weeks he really took to it and began taking his 3 hour naps in it. When I put him in prior to 8 weeks he would fuss and not stay in very long. Right now I put DS down for 2-3 naps a day in the swing.
At about 3.5 months we started using the Jumperoo and exersaucer too.
Every child is different. W/ DD I never had to use straps on the swing and bouncer but DS is a monkey and at 4 months is practically climbing out already

We bought gender neutral, and I am so glad we did. We knew we wanted more kids, so that was logical for us to do.

We knew we were going to TTC #2 right away so even though we knew #1 was a boy we did gender neutral stuff. My highchair, car seat, stroller, PNP, swing, bouncy, bundle me etc are all neutral. Now with #2 on the way and it is a girl, I wish I did even more things gender neutral....like plain white crib sheets, the bumbo, receiving blankets, onesies, under shirts, PJ's etc. First time around we were very fortunate and got 99.9% of our items from my shower but this time we need to buy what we need.

different manufacturers have different weight requirements / limits so its better to check each one
