At what age do you start "tummy time?"
Is 3 weeks too early...or am I late? How long should the tummy time be?? TIA!

I held my DD on my chest and/or belly since she was born - it helps develop the neck muscles. It worked because she has been holding her neck on her own since about 2 1/2 months and now, at 4 1/2 months she can get up on all fours and wiggle backwards on her belly.

I put DD on my chest all the time laying down...but when I put her on the activity mat, she gets upset.

Our baby nurse started the day we came home from the hospital  She said it is never too early. DS didn't lose his cord until he was 4 weeks so that didn't stop us! 
DH was a tummy time drill sargeant though. He would come home from work everyday asking how long I did it for. I would lie to him sometimes since DS hated it so much.
D@ms, that seems like it was SOOO long ago!

We started the day we came home from the hospital (1 day old). I would put her on her tummy on her boppy.

At DS's 3 wk check up the ped said we should start doing tummy time if we hadn't already. We had been doing it at that point just in his bassinnet or on one of us. Now at 5 wks he is on the activity mat.
