At what age will you put your child in preschool?

I will be sending DD at 3 yrs old. That is actually the age that they start at the preschool where she will be attending. However, I know some people who will start at 2 or 2.5. What will you do and why?

We are starting at 2... I always feel Cadi is stuck at home when she is here. When she is at school she loves it now.

The school I really want her in doesn't start until 3, but I also feel like DD would be happier starting earlier. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.

I would have sent DD at 2.5 but she missed the cut off to start by 2 months so she started just a month shy of 3. So far it's worked out really well.

I started my DS at 3 and will also start my DD at 3. While the school we use has a 2 year old program, I chose not to send them at 2. I am a SAHM and wanted that time with me.

Mine started at 2. DD had severe stranger anxiety so I wanted to start working on that. DS used to get upset that he couldn't stay and play so I decided to start him at 2 also.

I started Ryan this September at age 2. He loves it and I love getting a break!

I would like to start Ds at age 2.. I posted about programs for 2 and up and got NO response....

next sept dd will almost be 2 1/2 and I plan to do a class once a week for 2 1/2 hours and then in January if its going well I will up it to 2 days a week.

I am definitley planning on enrolling Bryan next September. He will be a little over 2.5 years old.
I feel he needs other social interaction other than just me. I do babysit now, but, by next year, I want him to be able to socialize with children his age.

Julia is 3 and started preschool in Sept, thats when he school starts, I feel she can understand more at that age too. JMO

I am thinking next fall when he is about 2.5. I will be working again and DH will need the sleeping time on the days when Christopher goes to school.

I think September of 2010 when DS will be 2 and 4 months. Hopefully by then I will at least be preggo with #2.

We started when DD was 2. I really felt like she was ready for more social interaction without DH and I being there to facilitate. Additionally, I want her to be enriched with other educational experiences other than "teacher mommy" working with her.

Since starting preschool, my DD has really come out of her shell. She has made a lot of friends that she mentions regularly. Some of her stranger anxiety has subsided also. For us, it was the right move.

I started both my older kids at 3. (DS #1 turned 3 a month into it and DD was 3 1/4 yrs) Honestly I never even knew anyone did younger when my oldest was that age but I probably wouldn't have done it anyway. No big reason reallly...I just don't want to rush them time i guess. My DS #2 is 2 1/2 and is jonesing to get into school (he loves it when we pick my DD up at school and hates leaving) but he will go next Fall. i want to keep him to myself a bit longer.

My DD started 2 months before her 3rd birthday but she is a late birthday.

I started my older DD when she was 22 months (2 months after I had her little sister)... She loves it!!!

i will start my other one either 20 or 22 months as well.

I think it's great for their socialization among other things.

My son started this September and was 3.5. He did camp over the summer. Under 3, I don't see the point unless used for child care/day care needs - personally. Even now at 3, I don't see it as necessary - more an activity for my son where he can be in a classroom setting and spend more time socializing with kids his own age.

DS started preschool at 3, then pre-K at 4.

DS is 17.5 months & is already in a structured Pre-School. I think every child is different and it depends entirely on your comfort level. We put him in this program b/c he was bored to tears in traditional daycare and would come home & act out.
