At what point do I call the ped. about a diaper rash?

Ugg. My poor baby. We were in the car yesterday, she had diahrrea (sp.) and I had no idea and she didn't tell me. Well, about a half hour later, we were checking out at Stop and Shop and she started screaming at the top of her lungs, "MY HINEY HURTS! MY HINEY HURTS!" So I rushed out to the car to change her pull-up and sure enough, she had the worst diaper rash I've ever seen in my life She was shaking from the pain my poor girl. So today it looks a little better, but she's raw, swollen and red down there I've been putting CVS diaper cream on because it has a high % of zinc or whatever it is that's the active ingredient, then putting vaseline over that. I just don't know if I need to call the ped. or should I just wait another day?

It can't hurt to call, since tomorrow is sunday and they probably won't be open. I use triple paste, it is the best.

Hmm, well my ped. is available to me tomorrow, so I'm not worried about that. Everyone says triple paste works well, I should probably go get some.

I like Triple Paste. I find that when the diaper rash doesn't respond to that after a day or so, I use a mixture of Aquafor and Gold Bond Medicated powder for babies. That works really well!

Try the Triple Paste, it worked on Christopher's diaper rash.

DD & DS has had a few diaper rashes where I couldn't get them to go away and it was raw. Either aquaphor or vaseline with powder on top is really the only thing that worked, even better than triple paste.

Take her to the dr. DS had a diaper rash that wasn't going away. It is actually a yeast infection and I got prescription for it.

DS just went through a phase where he was pooping at night and not crying so after 2-3 nights of that, he had a BAD diaper rash. I used A&D ointment and mixed it with Triple Paste and it worked after a day!

Triple Paste with a layer of A&D over it worked for DS.

Balmex has always done the job for my kids !! Call the doc too if you feel for comfortable

My second dd was prone to horrible diaper rash....I had great success with triple paste or the original desitn. Hope she's feeling better soon.

could it be the pull up. my friends daughter had
a bad reaction to them.

put neosporin and the zinc oxide on top. you will see
a difference right away.

I use a lotrimin cream when my dd has diaper rash like that. It really works quickly!

I remember Cass getting a bad one like that, and I got a prescription cream...Nystatin. Worked wonders.

Oooooohhhhhh--- that is awful. I sounds like the contents of that awful diarrhea burned her. I would think that a good soak in the tub can help if that is it. Also, can you go back to diapers for just a few days? I think they keep the moisture away better. If the diarrhea does not come back, then I bet she will heal quickly.

That happened to Damien once and he was also in a wet bathing suit It was all down his legs too because of the water. The best thing is to let the air get at it. Let her run around naked or just bottomless in an area where if she has an accident it is an easy clean-up. We always used triple paste but my DH noticed that Desitin original (not creamy) has a higher % of zinc oxide (the active ingredient) and is much cheaper. When you go to put a diaper/pull up back on lather that on as a barrier. I hope it is better soon

Definately use a ton of triple paste and change her often. Buy the big tub of it. It is about $30, but totally worth it. I would take her to the Doctor on Monday morning, because if it a diaper rash caused by yeast, you need an anti-fungal. Good Luck!!

I waited a day before calling the dr.
My dd rash was so red I have never seen anything like it. So my dr called in a creme that would be used on a burn.
It was very delicate and the rash was getting better in an hr.

If you need the name of the cream I can get it for you and recommened this cream to the dr and see what they say..
