At what point is the Epidural administered?

I was 7cm dialated when I asked for it - by that time the contractions were not letting up at all and I couldnt go on anymore without it..I had to have dh find the nurse and track it down for me since my dr was not at the hospital yet and they needed her permission to give it to me.

I got mine early as I was being induced. I got started on pitocin at 7am..had my epi at 11:30, c-section at 2:00pm...I was only a fingertip dialated when I got the epi
I think "normally" you need to be 3-4 cm dialated before the epi

when my head started to spin like Linda Blair in the exorcist. And that was at 7 cm.
