At what week is the earliest they recommend for a safe birth?
Statistic wise ... at what week do they say you can safely give birth where the baby would have little to no complications?
At 31 weeks, I have PUPPP's rash, I have Gestational Diabetes, I commute to NYC by subway, I work 50 hours per week ... everytime my sugar is high my itch gets worse. I am at my wits end. I hate to pray for an early delivery but I do not know if I can do another 8 weeks like this.
I just want to know what week to pray for ... 34 weeks? 36 weeks? 38 weeks? 40 weeks?

I'm so sorry you have to deal with all of this!
I know that 37 weeks is considered full term. Anything before that is considered premature. I would think you want the baby in there as long as possible. The lungs are the last thing to fully develop so if the baby can stay in, it's probably best to stay.
Hang in there.... you can do it!

But also keep in mind that every baby is different. For every one that has no complications at 33 weeks... there may be another one that has complications at 33 weeks.

recommend?
From the baby gaga news I got yesterday for arriving at my 27th week it said that if my baby were to be born now the survival rate is 86%.
You should start thinking about cutting down your busy routine. I say that full term is ideal. I wouldn't "want" an early delivery or be induced just to get the baby out of me.

I was born at 37 weeks and was fine. It's not that I want to be induced or wish to go early. I want to know that if I did happen to go after week ____ the baby would be OK.

Re: At what week is the earliest they recommend for a safe birth?
I KNOW how hard it is. I swear I do. I was so sick sweetie, I was praying for it to end. I was so weak from not eating, so hungry, couldnt leave the house and going to the bathroom hurt for a period of time, I would just lay in bed and cry and cry.
BUT, dont wish for an early birth. Its just too scary.
There are babies at 29 weeks born who make it out of the hospital quickly, Yet I know babies at 35 weeks who had issues.
After ALL of this, you wouldnt want a complication for the baby.
BELIEVE me once that baby is here, you will forget a lot of this...
But I too think you NEED to cut down on working so much, the stress is adding to all your issues. Im surprised your Doc hasnt told you that.
You will make it, hang in there.
I ended up feeling a LOT better the last 4 weeks of my PG, and it helped keep me focused. I hope you start to get better too

I was JUST thinking this same exact thing! Not that I am having any troubles, just wondering in general.
I hope you feel better and are able to relax a little in the coming weeks before you deliver.

I am delivering at 35.5 weeks due to complications. Am I nervous-YES. I understand about wishing for early delivery but in my case I am at risk the longer I am pregnant so I had to compromise. Dont compromise unless you need to. It adds more stress that you dont need wondering about a tiny preemie.

Are you the one that posted about possibly getting a blood tranfusion and your family was against it? If so I was thinking about you earlier this week. I wish you all the best.

Re: At what week is the earliest they recommend for a safe birth?
obviously, it would be ideal to have the baby at term. but as i've posted, i'm having some complications right now that have made me worried about having a preemie. so i asked my doctor your question just the other week, and his exact response was:
"make it to 30 weeks and you can feel good. make it to 32 weeks and you can feel great. make it to 36 weeks and you can get cocky"
ETA: i have been forced to make a LOT of lifestyle changes because of my complications, and it hasn't been easy, but it's been totally worth it in order to decrease the stress on my body. sounds like your body is under a lot of stress too... i would strongly recommend cutting down on your work hours and stuff if at all possible...jmo

You need to talk to your job and see if you can cut back some - maybe try working from home one day a week? The commute alone into the city is killer - try to see what you can do. I can only imagine how exhausted you must be.
Lots of for you. It will go fast I promies (unless you go two weeks late like I did )

Re: At what week is the earliest they recommend for a safe birth?
All babies are different...My girls were born at 35 weeks and 36 weeks and were fine acting like typical newborns. But Ive known other 35 weekers who needed a little extra TLC..
I will be 34 weeks on Sunday..and basically, should I go into labor, they will let me go...this is b/c of my past history and the size of the baby. In general most doctors would like you to get to at least 36 weeks.

I was going to suggest the same thing. I NEVER thought I would have to stop working at 36 weeks, but physically I just could not do it anymore.
You have ALOT going on, PUPPS and GD are s ucky and you must be uncomfortable all of the time
I agree with Diana, I think you should try to do something about working so much, you will probably start to feel a little bit better if you are working less. I know I did

Elbee - i feel your pain. i too commute every day and it is getting to me - especially in this heat. i don't always get a seat and its just draining at the end of a demanding work day.
