Re: attn: married people
We mostly acknowledge it in a sense that we remember the day and we tell each other "hey, remember which day is today?"
We used to go out to dinner but then more important dates came along and now we just mostly order something in and get some wine and make it a special night in.

Our dates are so close.. but we'll probably just celebrate our wedding anniversary. 9/6 is our wedding and 9/12 is the dating one.

Re: attn: married people
well, me & DH are still Newlyweds (it will be 6 months in a couple weeks), so EVERYTHING is new and exciting to us right now. lol.
But I don't think we'll be celebrating every little anniversary in the years to come. I think we'll mostly celebrate our wedding day, but the others (like our first date, and the day he proposed) will just be acknowledged, but I doubt we'll go out or exchange gifts. Even now we barely celebrate each new month. We acknowledge it, but it's never a big huge thing.

We definitely make mention of it and it has a special place in our hearts, but as for getting gifts or going out, not really.

Not really. I do mention it but we don't do anything "special" for it.

Re: attn: married people
Absolutely! We usually go out to dinner -- nothing huge, but enough to take a moment to remember the significance of the day.
The way I see it, we're fortunate to be able to celebrate ALL the things -- big AND little -- that mean something to us, so why not?

Re: attn: married people
For us, the big anniversary is the 1st date, not our wedding anniversary.
We've only been married about 3 and a half years, but together 11. There's so much history and meaning to our dating anniversary.

we don't celebrate it anymore. We acknowledge the day, like we acknowledge the day he proposed but celebrate our old anniversary...no.

No definitely not. Especially since we never had an official "start date".
same here
sometimes we use things as an excuse though - like this past friday we were married 6 months so we used that as an excuse to celebrate

Re: attn: married people
We never really celebrated our dating anniversary. We were engaged by the time our 1st dating anniversary came around so we went out to dinner but didn't exchange gifts; and we were married a few weeks before the 2nd one came around. We recognize it by saying "hey it's been X years" but we really only celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Re: attn: married people
We usually try to go out for dinner on our dating anniversary. With two little ones, we rarely get to go out as it is, so having the "excuse" to get out together, is nice

no - we just celebrate our wedding anniversary - we've had too many celebrations lately between kids birthday parties, weddings, baptisms, etc.....I can't keep up with them all.

Re: attn: married people
we got married on our 7 year "dating" anniversary so we will count it this year as 9 years together. The date of us becoming "us" is much more important then our wedding date, but it worked out well, so its the same date and we have always celebrated our anniversary big. We have gone on a trip for every single one of them, and were trying to plan our 9th anniversary trip now I think once we have kids, we will probably not go away, but I think we will always do something.

Re: attn: married people
After 5 1/2+ years of marriage we still celebrate our "dating" anniversary, July 13th. Number 10 is approaching! We are going to our favorite couples' resort in the Poconos for a three-day weekend.
I guess the novelty wears off for most couples after a few years and they just celebrate their wedding anniversaries from then on. We'll try not to let that happen to us.

We went to Hooters on Sunday and pigged out... then on the way home remembered it was our 8th anniversary of meeting. So we kinda celebrated.
