ATTORNEYS...
Where do you look for jobs? Other than the NYLJ of course. I got my current job and the previous one through people I knew.
I really haven't looked for anything since law school. I am looking for something in LI. My school is in the city and so are all of the jobs listed there.
Thanks!

Re: ATTORNEYS...
Thanks for your help. I briefly looked on CL. I don't know why, but I feel like a reputable firm would not advertise an attorney position there...I'm sure it's not the case as many people use it and would be a good way to reach many, but that's just my initial feeling.
I'll try the others.

Re: ATTORNEYS...
I highly recommend working with recruiters (more than one). Yes, many of the jobs I heard about through recruiters were in the city, but most of the recruiters I have spoken to have job listnings on the Island, too. I don't know of a LI-based attorney recruiter, but perhaps some Google searches will turn some up.
I also recommend checking the NY Times, Newsday, and Wall Street Journal classifieds. Sometimes Above the Law posts jobs, but it's unlikely they would have any on LI.
Good luck!

Re: ATTORNEYS...
What field are you looking for? Recruiters right now are having a really nasty time because certain fields have hiring freezes and no one wants to pay a recruiter fee. I have a few friends that are recruiters in NYC and so this is right from them.

I used to work for Mestel & Co and HIRECounsel. They are recruiters in the City, both permanent positions (M&Co)and temp positions (HIRECounsel).

Many firms have hiring freezes right now, but not all recruiters are totally dry. I have gotten about 7 leads in the past month from a recruiter in my area (IP and commercial litigation) for large and mid-sized firms...
Recruiters are still a very valuable tool for finding jobs, even in this tough economy.
