'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
Someone (maybeamommy?) recently posted about the average chances to conceive during an IUI, something like 6-20%.
I also read that it can take an 'average' couple 4-6 months to conceive on their own. But do you guys think that is for people who know when they are ovulating and BD at the right time? Or is that just for people who 'pull the goalie' so to speak
I guess I would really love to know your experiences with changing methods.
When did you go from unmedicated IUIs to medicated?
OR
When did you go from IUIs to IVF?
Given the string of BFNs here lately I would love to hear some success stories!!!!!
for all!!

Re: 'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
Never had a BFP here, so i can't share but i would LOVE to see the answer to this as well!
I posted about the IUI, depending on who you ask and what source is used, % differ and of course success rates differ according to age, circumstance and dx.
This is what i don't get . Two couples, same dx, same age, nearly identical "charts", etc. Given the same meds, and IVF protocol.
One couple has 1 IVF and goes on to have twins. The other couple, suffer through 4 failed IVFs and numerous FETs. No child is ever conceived.

Re: 'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
Dh and I had unexplained IF. We had 1 round of medicated IUI (femera and orvidrel trigger) BD the day after the trigger shot as it was a Sunday and had the IUI on Monday. And I got PG.
I don't know if this info helps you or not but I know at least 3 people who got PG on their 1st IUI, however I do not know what their "issues" were whether unexplained of MF IF etc.
ETA - before that we had been trying for 14 cycles

Re: 'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
I don't know how much help I can really be because my IF issues are not common. I had cervical stenosis so I needed unmedicated IUIs to get PG with Abby and with the baby I am carrying now. My cycles are like clockwork. I do not have PCOS and we do not have male factor issues.
That being said, I would strongly suggest to TRY not to look at odds whether medicated or not. When I was having IUI's for Abby, I got PG 3 out of 5 possible times and I was over the age of 37 - 2 ended in m/c's. When I was having IUIs for baby #2, I had already turned 39 and got PG twice - I had a third m/c this past summer.
Even though I had 3 total losses, I decided to look at it in a positive light. I was told my odds were less than 5% for each cycle. Out of a total of 8 IUI cycles between the two good pregnancies, I got PG 5 times. It wasn't supposed to happen so easily but it did.
The less I thought about it, the happier I was. I wish you the best and good luck.

I have pcos and it took us 7 months, but we did 4 months of metaformin and I never O'ed on my own. We than went to iui with clomid and trigger shot. We did 3 iuis and our third was a success. If our third iui would have failed we would have went on to IVF.

Re: 'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
I had unexplained IF. I was ovulating regularly on my own and DH had no issues. The eggie and the swimmie just didn't meet. We tried on our own for 6 months, then sought the help of an RE. I did one month of 50mg clomid and an Ovidrel trigger and got PG on the first time doing back to back IUI.

Re: 'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
DH and I were trying for about a 10 cycles on our own with no luck.
We then saw an RE where i was diagnosed with PCO. We started a clomid cycle without IUI first but halfway through it changed to an IUI because of supposed male factor (morphology isues). We got pregnant on our first IUI and feel extremely lucky that it worked. I was convinced that we were going to have to do IVF because they told us DH supposedly has severe morphology issues.

Re: 'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
I think it depends on the person. I have never gotten a BFP yet so we are on 4th IUI this time unmedicated but if this month is a bust then our next step is IVF. We have no obvious IF issues so its just waiting to be blessed. I do know that I was preg once w/ mc but that was a long time ago so it can happen, Just not happening

Thanks for sharing this. All of our tests have come back normal, except DH has slightly low motility (46 when it should be 50). This was our first medicated cycle with timed intercourse. Next cycle (we've tried naturally for 9 months) we move on to IUI and your post has given me hope. Thanks!

Re: 'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
I have a son that was conceived without a prob. When we started trying for number 2, after 6 months of perfectly time BD'ing I decided it was time to seek help. We did all the tests and it came back that my husband had abnormal morphology. We tried 1 IUI - this was now month 10 with no luck. It failed. I immediately wanted to move on to IVF, and the doctor let me. Our first round of IVF was a success. For us, I do not believe that IUI would have worked. My husbands numbers were very low and I just didn't want to keep trying over and over with less than 5% rate of success. I knew that I could get pregnant and carry a baby though so IVF with ICSI seemed to be the obvious choice.
Good luck on your journey!

Re: 'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
I have PCOS. We tried on our own for a year. We did medicated (metformin/clomid) timed intercourse for three cycles. Then we did IUI with met/clomid/trigger. I got pregnant my first IUI but miscarried. I got got pregnant again my second IUI and had my twins!

Myself and DH have unexplained IF, on paper we looked great. We tried on our own for 9 months, then went to NSUH. After the 13 month of trying we tried injectable med w/IUI and got BFP on round #2- with twins!! I didn't want clomid or unmedicated IUI, I was aggressive.

Re: 'Average' time to conceive -- any success stories out there?
I have PCOS with absent periods and I do not ovulate on my own. After months of just 'seeing what happens' we went through 2 rounds of Clomid and timed intercourse... neither of which worked. Since Clomid did not work well for me, we went on to Gonal-F injections. I was on Gonal-F for about 19 days, triggered and had our first IUI 2 days later. We got our BFP 2 weeks after that! I've heard so many success stories of IUI working the first time around!
Best of luck to you!!!

I like you have PCOS. Clomid did nothing for us. I will be starting my first (and hopefully last) round of IUI injectibles this month. Your story brings me tons of happiness and hope!

For years I thought I didn't have a chance bc my body just never wanted to cooperate. I was nervous about the injections at first, but they really are a piece of cake!!
I wish you the best of luck!!! I hope this month is your month!!!!
