Babies who have eaten homemade baby food.
So I have been on a kick to make my own baby food. My son has eaten all the stage one fruits and veggies except prunes. So on Sat I tried bananas. He ate the jar of bananas. On Sun. I tried making him bananas on my own. He gagged and refused to open his mouth. I tried going back to the jar and he refused that too. Then yesterday I tried making peas for him. He gagged and hated it. Today I made applesauce for him and again he gagged and hated it. What am I doing wrong? I am making it just like how they said in wholesome baby. I am so confused.

i feel that the jarred bananas are a smoother consistency, as are most jarred foods. Pears seemed to work well, so i started with homemade pears. Is your dc teething, maybe thats why he is refusing. i would just continue to try before you give up on making your own foods. peas never went, homemade or jarred...but now he eats both homemade or not.

oh goodie DS isn't the only one like this, he loves his jar bananas. when I make his banana he gags and refuses to eat them. I am going to try again, this time I will use the magic bullet (before I was mashing w/ fork) and add a bit of formula hopefully he will like it that way since it will be a little thinner. DS loves my apples tho, and doesn't like jar apples too much. I bake everything so The applesauce is very tasty

I don't know, we never did jarred foods. We only did homemade foods. I bought the Magic Bullet adn it was the only thing that really pureed the foods good enough.

Try adding more water to your puree and that should give it a smoother consistency. Also, I've noticed when I'm introducing a new food sometimes he takes it better if I mix it with oatmeal.

I have tried mixing the foods up in the blender, the food processor and the immersion blender. The immersion blender is the one that worked well. Also, I have tried mixing it with oatmeal and then he doesn't want to eat that either. I guess I will just keep trying. Thanks for your suggestions!
