Im actually having to fight with this company to get a new crib or my money back!!! They are telling me i have to try the replacement parts first and if unhappy then i can return. I said so i have to risk my babys' life first and then if something happens to her you will take the crib back?
Am I the only person to find this utterly ridiculous. The lady said she has to speak with her supervisor and will call me back. Then I call BRU who we got crib from and they said since its past 90 days they cant help.. I asked so you have a time limit on RECALLED ITEMS??? again got, hmm let me speak with my representative and get back to you. I have such a pit in my stomach its horrible.
ETA: I know if they wont give me new crib or money back, as soon as i get parts im calling them and saying not satisfied thats all.
Well, that's how it usually works with most things that are recalled due to a faulty part on the item. Like the FP kitchen that was just recalled. They are sending out repair kits. If the item can be repaired, it makes sense to send out the kit. If the issue is with the bolts coming lose in the railing, and they are sending you a new railing then it should solve the issue.
I'm surprised that BRU wouldn't offer you a credit though since that's what they do with items that were purchased more than 90 days ago.

I have had that pit for 49 days now,,,so I'm sorry if I fly off the handle sometimes...... I feel like trhat lion with a thorn in his paw.
When I filed my first complaint with their customer service,,On a THURSDAY,,,they told me the Vice Pres. was on VACATION until Monday and that no one could help me until then,,,,,,5 freakin days they told me I would have to wait to get answers after I found my precious baby girl in something that could have really hurt her,,,,,,,,
Right there I knew I had a big battle.
I like the way the news is portraying them,saying Bassett took quik action after they found a baby's hand was pinched,,,,Bull$%^$.
If I didn't respond with the web page of COSCO being fined 1.75 million for not reporting a defect he probably would have never...

This forum is not only to chat about our everyday lives with our kids it's about talking about important subjects, concerns and so on such as recalls. So they posted 40 times about it, don't open the thread if you don't like the poster. This thread is important to be posted and I'm glad other crib owners of Wendy Bellisimo are aware and have taken action as well.
It's a shame people keep being rude to one another here.

I applaud your persistence on this matter, and appreciate your constant updates and all the information you have provided for us!!!
I know if this was me- Id be blowing up every board on this site as well as many other sites- I would want to be heard loud and clear...
As a parent you want to do right by your child, and IMO your fighting has not only done right by your child but by many other children as well!!!

I really don't understand all the anymosity against this poster, how many times we find posters annoying or what they post annoying, I know I do but I move on and dont even bother reading it.

Actually, I am not understanding all of the miscommunications here. Honestly, I havent read any of these posts so I obviously am not "tired" of hearing them like others are. But I am also sure that there are people like me who slipped through the cracks and didnt hear what happened. I for one commend you for ensuring your childs safety. I have seen soooo many postins on all kinds of recalls and I dont have every toy that is named but I do appreciate being told "just in case". Ive also read posts about people getting "screwed" by BBB or BRU ...no it doesnt directly effect me but knowing who I could be potentially dealing with is informative to me. Because of this information I will stray frm this brand of cribs knowing that this person was treated this way and their child was in such danger. So even if its just me or just a few that do agree with this mans efforts....he made a point to cost them some type of future business.

Thank you all so much for the support.
The Asbury Park Press is actually coming to my house in the morning to get some pics.... They are the only paper who followed up after the recall. This part is kinda weird.
Hey, hopefully my daughter will get a kick outta this when she gets older.

Honestly I haven't heard anything about this recall down here in Florida or any mention of it on babycenter and I'm on the May 05 board and Nov 07.
I also don't think you can compare a faulty crib to a faulty toy where you newborn, infant, toddler would be sleeping in for hours at a time with closed doors to a toy for a 6 month old that you should be supervising.
I hate the crib I purchased for my son because of the softness of the pine especially since I was told it was oak because the color was honeyoak but it's sturdy and I felt safe with my son in it and my soon to be daughter in it. I can't imagine having a faulty crib.

It has been a while since I have posted.
Maybe there is someone who still has not seen this.

I have gotten so involved with this. The Consumer Union Invited me to speak at a press conference on Capital Hill on Thursday Feb. 7th. Senator Pryor is trying to reform the CPSC and asked a few families that had had problems to speak.

I refused the new crib and insisted they refund the whole set including the changing table and armoire since it wouldn't match a different brand crib.
Does the new crib seem better built?
For anyone wondering. That is all I received from Bassett and I am not suing.

Yes the crib seems better built. I compaired the old crib parts to the new crib part. I fought with them on phone. At first all they would give me was replacement parts.

Actually, NO, I don't think a reasonable person would just tighten the bolt. If there was a loose bolt on my kids crib, I would call the manufacturer. This is not a toy we're speaking of. You don't just tighten it and hope for the best. Because chances are it would become loose again.
EXACTLY!! Why would people here get tired of someone informing people of a safety issue for your child?

Actually I was pretty burnt out about all this crib stuff. Then the Consumer Union called and relight my fire. I couldn't pass down a trip to DC and actually speak on Capital Hill.
As they say the squeaky wheel gets the oil...sometimes.
