baby favoring one side of head when sleeping?
We saw the ped yesterday and she said the left side of my DS's head is slighly becoming misshapen bc he tends to favor that side when he's sleeping. I was worried that would happen :( my twin nephews who are 6 mos old have such severe flatheads that they wear helmets. The ped said to turn DS to face the other way in the crib at night, alternating so it doesn't get too bad...has anyone ever gone through this? I'm afraid he will hate being alternated in the crib.

DD favored facing one side. I always alternated her in the crib to keep her from getting a flat spot. She never had a flat spot and slept fine.

DD was doing this too. Her PT recommended that one night I face her one way in the bassinet and the next night, the other way. It seems to be helping We see a difference already.

you can also put him at the other end of the changing table - so that his head turns the other way to look at you when you change him!
we also got ourselves a boppy noggin nest! we have a second one that i had planned to use a lot and we haven't - i can give that to you!!!

Re: baby favoring one side of head when sleeping?
we had the same issue... and honestly it was impossible to deal with at night because he would wake up... so we worked more on it during the day.... making sure he had a blanket on the side his head always turned so he was going the otherway... and this included in the car seat, the bouncy seat, an dthe swing

Re: baby favoring one side of head when sleeping?
My son favored looking left for months. It had nothing to do with a mobile, or something on the wall. He did it sleeping, or even playing on his back. He had a very flat head on the left side.
We started using the bumbo even more, exersaucer, and it eventually evened out.

We had issues with Jack in the beginning also. I tried to switch positions when feeding him also. Also, get a noggin nest - loved that!

Re: baby favoring one side of head when sleeping?
my daughter had to wear a helmet too..I def agree with pp's although you have to work on it in the crib, work on it all day too...For our son - we would roll a receiving blanket and switch it every time we put my son down in his bassinet, swing, everything...we were "stricter" with belly time...we used the boppy so he wasn't flat on his back..etc! we changed his positions on the changing table, on the floor, etc...and we used the bumbo and exersaucer a lot earlier!

Re: baby favoring one side of head when sleeping?
My DD did this since day one. One side of her head was getting flat and her ear was pushign forward.
Even if we turned a certain way so she would turn towards us, it did not work. So we had to roll blankets (when watching her only), and also used the boppy noggin nest which helped. We would switch sides that she would feed on, and we would turn her head when she would fall asleep (most times she moved it back).
After doing this religiously, she started using BOTH sides, and it went away. No helmet needed b/c we intervened asap.
You have time to catch this still.

I flip the kids after each time they are taken out of the crib and they dont seem to mind at all. DS started to have one side flatter but now at 10 weeks they are all fine. Good luck....
