BABY SHOWER LOCATIONS (Bayside) UPDATED ON BOTTOM!!!!!!!
So as some of you might know, Im planning this baby shower on my own and Im finding that picking the place is the hardest part!!!!!!!
So far in Bayside I saw two restaraunts that have private rooms... (Both Italian Food)
-Gino's trattoria (corner of bell blvd). -Cascarino's (bell blvd)
GINO's: They want to charge me $30pp + tax +18% tip which includes: *Starter Salad *Choice Entree: Chicken(2 ways), Eggplant, Fish *Dessert/Coffee/Tea/soda *** The room is big, pretty and bright!
Cascarino's: They want to charge me 27.95+ 20% tip NO TAX, includes: *Family platters of Cold/Hot Antipasta *Choice of House or Ceasar Salad *Choice Entree: Chicken(3 ways), Eggplant, Fish *Cake included/Coffee/Tea/Soda *ALL Decor Included-any color tablecloth+napkins, Ballons, Wicker Chair. ***The room is smaller and akward setup that cant be moved around.
Any thoughts? WWYD?
Today I am thinking to go to Verdi's of Whitestone...
Has anyone ever been there for an event? How are the rooms? The food? Should I make the trip over there?
Any Advice would be great!

Re: BABY SHOWER LOCATIONS (Bayside) Please HELP ME DECIDE!!
gino's food is good but i have never gone to a "party" there so i dont know how they set it up.
i think cascarinos would get my vote. i have been to many things @ cascarinos. their food is always good. the service is always good. the waitstaff is nice. i have only been to parties at the one in college point off cp blvd but they have never disapointed.
save yourself the few $$ extra a person. it will be a good time.

Re: BABY SHOWER LOCATIONS (Bayside) Please HELP ME DECIDE!!
Sorry to crash but I had my rehearsal dinner at Cascarinos- everything was perfect- the food was excellent! We did it at the bayside location and it wasnt in a separate room which I didnt love but it was ok for a rehearsal dinner- not sure that would work for a shower to be honest
I also wanted to mention to check out Il Nocello in Whitestone- my bridal shower was there, they have a great upstairs room, my sister said the price was really reasonable and the food was incredible! they did it buffet style which was cheaper and there was so much food leftover that everyone took home containers of it!

Crashing..... Since you are also looking at whitestone I wanted to let you know that on 149th street and either 12th or 11th avenue there's a restaurant called Vesuvio, I had my rehearsal dinner there and my friend is having her bridal shower there as well...their food is excellent -- They're related to the owners of Gino's on Bell Blvd (I had my engagement at Gino's)
Good Luck, any of the places you listed are great, Verdi's is good too but if you have a smaller party they give you the room downstairs which has no windows

I went to a baby shower at Gino's and I really liked it. I loved the space and the food was really good. I have never been to an event at cascarino's but I personally don't love their food or the decor

I was going to add that I have been to a bridal shower at Vesuvio - it too has a great space and the food was good. I don't know about their pricing though.

Re: BABY SHOWER LOCATIONS (Bayside) Please HELP ME DECIDE!!
I just went to a baby shower at Verdi's a few weeks ago. It was nice but there was no valet parking and the parking lot was full. I had to park a few blocks away and I'm pg so it was not ideal. Room was downstairs which I thought was fine and the food was OK.

I vote cascarino's (b/c I love their food!) lol. Would the shower be upstairs?

Re: BABY SHOWER LOCATIONS (Bayside) Please HELP ME DECIDE!!
I have eaten at Ginos and their food is really good...for me the room upstairs was a little small but I loved the outside terrace.
I had my shower at Verdis but in the westbury location, the service and food was good and very reasonable!
Theres also Bourban Street on Bell, they have a nice size room, we had our rehersal dinner there they gave soooo much food and it was delicious... but parking is horrible.
Too bad Cafe on the green is closed!

Re: BABY SHOWER LOCATIONS (Bayside) Please HELP ME DECIDE!!
I've been to both for bridal showers & a rehersal dinner.
Gino's is nice as far as set-up goes because you can use the outdoor deck on top. The bride opened her gifts out there...it was a beautiful day.
Cascarino's is an akward set up as far as tables go, but it sounds like you would be getting more with them than at Gino's.
I personally think the food at Cascarino's was a bit better than Gino's.
I'm not a Verdi's fan. Like someone else said their food is average, nothing to be wowed over IMO. I've been to too many parties over there so to me its not worth considering.
How about Donovans. I went to a Bridal shower there last year & thought the food was pretty good.

I'm gonna recommend where my shower was.
Only $14.95/person Guests choice of 1 mimosa, bloody mary, screwdriver Guests choice: French Toast Quiche Eggs any style Ceaser Salad Penne Alla Vodka
Bread basket and fruit on the table
Everyone loved the food and the room was pretty spacious. I had 80 people.
ETA **************** You would think I would put the NAME of the place. LOL. It was at The Sly Fox Inn. Not too far from Bayside.

Re: BABY SHOWER LOCATIONS (Bayside) Please HELP ME DECIDE!!
I checked out Gino's also for my shower, but just keep in mind, they don't have an elevator, just all those stairs! That was a BIG factor in us not booking with them. They do have great food and I loved the room, but I couldn't imagine everyone, including my grandmother, walking up all those steps with big boxes and gifts :(

Re: BABY SHOWER LOCATIONS (Bayside) Please HELP ME DECIDE!!
I prefer Gino's.
Cascarinos's is good, the price is good, but parking really su cks in that area. There is only street parking, and the municiple lot is further away. Gino's at least does valet.
Not a fan of Verdi's.
Why not check out Donovans ?

I had my DS christening at Verdi's. the food was good everyone had a nice time! I don't remember how much it was per person. I went to a shower at bourbon street, the food was also really good!
I wouldn't choose Cascarino's, bad experience.
my sister's shower was at Giordano's, nice place

I had my shower @ Cascarino's, but the one in College Point. They have a parking lot, and a nice, big party room. The food is excellent, and they packed all the leftovers for us to take home. The service was outstanding. I highly recommend them.

Re: BABY SHOWER LOCATIONS (Bayside) Please HELP ME DECIDE!!
*********************************************************************UPDATED*******************
Ok so I have been out literally ALL day checking out places, I went to Verdi's and Giardino's. I heard RAVES about Giardinos but they want $40pp (I cant afford that)....thats out.
Verdi's: Want to charge me $32PP, the room is gorgeous... like a mini wedding!! (maybe even a little too fancy?) The set up is kinda wierd cause there is this beam in the middle of the room and the tables to the right of the beam feel isolated. ANYWAY, the only thing stopping me from booking this place is that I keep hearing that the food is JUST OK.
GINO'S : 30PP.
So now Im going back and forth between my FINAL 2 CHOICES:
GINO'S TRATTORIA vs. VERDI's... they have completely different atmospheres, gino's is more casual setting, verdi's is super fancy... but the food for me is the main issue... The prices are about the same, same amount of food is offered, just the QUALITY of food is what Im concerned about.
So ladies, all your input has helped me narrow it down to these two choices... PLEASE help me choose the final place.
GINO's or VERDI's?
