back from germany!!! UPDATE WITH LINK TO PICS
UPDATE: i added a few pics to an album on yahoo.. link at bottom of this post
we had THE BEST time!!
there were 4 of us that went- we stayed at our friend dan's apartment ( hes stationed over there with the army). he lives in the idar-oberstein area. the weather was cool, but fine- in the mid 40s every day, so plenty warm enough to be outside with our coats and gloves on... and no rain all week! 
dan was around the first 3 days of our trip, and took us all over! to the black forest area
( saw the world's largest coo-coo clock1 LOL), saw a parade celebrating like their mardi- gras
( this was crazy!!). we also went to a waterfall in triberg, went to a castle in heidelberg, shopping in a neat town called trier....
then, tuesday dan had to go back to work so the other 4 of us left early in the morning for the 6 hour train ride to berlin. we got a room at a youth hostel there- it was brand new and really clean, and reminded me of a dorm room! we went all over in berlin, too- saw the berlin wall, went up in the glass dome of the reichtstag building, up in the east german radio tower, saw check point charlie, the brandenberg gate... we were in berlin till wednesday afternoon
thursday, we did our own "castle tour", and went and toured 2 old castles that have been restored and another one that is just all castle ruins that you can climb all around and through- VERY cool!
and friday was our last day and we took it a little bit easier- we did a train tour around the rhein river. this was really pretty with all the castles and cute small towns along it.
so we had a prety busy week, but we got to see so much, and i totally recommend going there... its beautiful!!! germany

OOOH yeah! DH had the camera the whole time, so we have about 600 pictures- LOL hes uploading them now, so i'll try to post a couple later....

Sure sounds like you had a great time. Germany is a beautiful country....I was there a couple of years back as an exchange student.....we stood in Berlin for a week (awesome city) and then in Schleswig Holstein for the remaining two weeks. It's gorgeous for those of you who have never been there. I would definitely love to see some of your pictures Glad you had a good time!!

oh really?? do you know which base? dans on baumholder. he went to west point and had to serve 5 years afterward- and his 5 years are up this spring, so thats why he invited us to come over there before he moves home

I didn't know that you could go up in the TV tower!!! Maybe when I went last, it wasn't opened for tourists?

yup! it was the east german radio tower that we went up in berlin.... and also in the reichstag building, you can go up into the glass dome
