Back from the doc with a few questions- including Genetic testing pay
from CD 2 testing and the wonderful world of genetic testing...
34 vials of blood honestly it wasnt that bad. BUT I had no idea that it was going to cost that much. I'm pisssed off that I wasnt informed of it until AFTER they drew the bood. Anyone care to share how much they ended up paying and what insurance coverage they have? I have empire primary but they said they probably wont cover it, and GHI secondary. They charged us $825 and said it might be reimbursed.
In more great news, I have left over follies from last cycle so we cant do injectibles this month. We can try to do a "natural" IUI cycle with letrozole. Has this happened to anyone before? More than once?
And the kicker- the false positives that I got on 9 and 11 DPO could have been a miscarriage, but we'll never know. Wonderful.

Re: Back from the doc with a few questions- including Genetic testing pay
When we first met with my RE for a consult he drew about 15 vials of blood from me and about 8 vials from DH. Some of the blood drawn was for genetic testing. Some was to just check my levels. I just had to go over some info with my ins company regarding my benefits and I know that the insurance company ended up paying out about $1250 to the 2 labs for that bloodwork. I had to pay co-insurance when my bill came from the lab that equaled to about $75 out of my pocket. It was very strange though - anything that was sent to the genetic testing lab, I didn't have to pay for. Anything that was sent to just the regular lab (my ins co uses Sunrise) I had to pay the co-ins for.
ETA - we have United Healthcare

I also got hit with an $800 bill for the testing. I have United Healthcare however they denied the testing and I had to pay out of pocket.

Re: Back from the doc with a few questions- including Genetic testing pay
I have GHI and it was $800, but that was WITH a discount!! Not covered, I was told it was $18,000!!!!
I had leftover follicles once and had to take the next month off. I immediately went in my car and cried The good thing is I find those month breaks tend to go quickly!!

I seriously doubt either of my insurances will cover it. I was NOT prepared to be shelling out $825 today (it was $725 for me $100 for DH). If we didnt call and pay today with the discount, it would've been over $4000!!!
I imagine the months off go fast because you're actually ENJOYING life, as opposed to a week of stims plus an interminible 2ww. which leads me to a new question... onto a new post lol

Re: Back from the doc with a few questions- including Genetic testing pay
I had the immune testing with Reprosourse and that was $450 (capped). I was able to have the thrombo testing done at quest and that was covered. I didn't have any genetic done. I was advised of the cost before though. They really should have let you know!
