I posted on the pets board about the difference between chickens that are raised in a humane way & chickens being raised for the majority the poultry we eat in this country.
This is why I choose to buy all natural/organic/free range/cage free
even though it can be three times the price

Kelly...if you can download television programmes, it would be worth your while to download these two programmes,
Hughs Chicken Run
and Jamies Fowl Dinners

They both explore the high cost and (what they feel is) the immorality of intensive chicken farming. Both shows are hard to watch, but will change your opinions of buying cheap chicken and eggs.
