You'll need to get your MA in teaching. I assume you want to teach Business???
You will have to student teach, there is no way around it, and take the teaching exams:
LAST ATS-W and your subject area test.
All well worth it. I <3 teaching

Gina, one thing I would mention--I am finishing my doctorate in ed admin so I am spending a lot of time with principals and superintendants--there are very few Business teachers per school. Maybe one or two per high school, if that, because often teachers of other subjects are dual certified and teach the Business classes in addition to their own subject area.
You might have an easier time finding a job going for something like a foreign language (I know schools need those), math, or sciences, though you'll need to go back and take courses at the undergrad level.

I have a business degree and now I teach math. I had to go back and take a bunch of undergrad math credits (you need 36), then I got my Masters. You pretty much need a masters in order to teach once you have a bachelor's in anything other than education. I think Dowling's Master's in exactly 1 year - including summer and winter sessions.

This was my exact path. Then I went and got certified in Business since it was only an additional test.

I am finally doing this! Don't know why I put it off, but I am finally taking the Business CST in April.

Re: back to school for teaching, anyone do it?
I'm going back in May for my masters in teaching. I have the same issue, i have an undergrad in psych but want to teach special ed at the early ed level. So i'm stuck in the same situation, doing the student teaching, not working for a year. I feel your pain. I'm going back for an MST, it's the masters for initial certification in teaching.

Re: back to school for teaching, anyone do it?
I did it andIi am just finishing up now. There are some programs that allow you to get a full time teaching job instead of student teaching (student teaching is only one semester). I am in the career change program at St. John's and they have this.
I am currently looking for a job and I am getting calls for interiews, so it is possible. I think it depends on what you go back for. If it is special ed, math, science, language you have a good change of getting a job b/c teachers are needed in those areas. You also have to flexible on where you will teach.

Re: back to school for teaching, anyone do it?
It's absolutely possible! Go to the college youre thinking of, and talk to an advisor about what youre interested in and they should steer you in the right direction. It took me 3 yrs to complete my MAsters (a couple of pregnancies got in the way )
