Backpack storage Ideas
Where do you put your kids backpacks and coats when they get home from school IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A MUDROOM?
Right now everything ends up on my dining room table.

Ours usually wind up on the dining room table, too. But, we hung this up and reinforced it so that's where they technically belong.
Hooks
When we have company, I throw the bags into the coat closet.

We don't have a mudroom either. Last owners turned the mudroom into a 2nd pool bathroom on the 1st floor. We have a hallway from the garage so I got some nice board with hooks on it from Hobby Lobby I believe or BBB... can't remember. They hang up their backpacks and jackets on there.
Actually I hang them up for now bc they're not tall enough, but they leave them on the floor by the hooks when done,

In my front entrance I hung a thing on the wall- it has kind of like 3 cubbies and under that there are hooks. Her backpack hangs on a hook
Similar to this (but mine is smaller since it's on a small wall behind my front door):

My son's backpack weighs about 2,000 lbs. It sits on a chair in my kitchen, I couldn't hang it on my cute hooks, lol

Do you have a coat closet? I use an over the door hook bar on one of the closet doors and backpacks get hung up there.

Lower kitchen cupboard closest to the back door. I realized my cabinets were too valuable real estate to be filled with serving platters or special baking pans I only pull out a few times a year- relocated that stuff to basement storage and it’s been fantastic.

During the week, it’s placed on the floor by the front door. On the weekends, I put in the playroom.

I have a storage bench by the front door. Shoes go in the bench, backpacks on top. They go there during the week. If we have company, they get tossed in the coat closet.

my DH put hooks on our stair case rail. technically we put it there for stockings for xmas but now when its not christmas bookbags tend to be hung up there and whatever jacket they are wearing we also have closet we use for jackets downstairs so they do in there when it is xmas time.
for shoes we have a basket for them that sit by my stairs
