We went to Lowes. Great selection imo. Used 10 or 15% coupon at the time and purchased with 0% for 6 months.

we eventually bought ours at Home depot. as far as places to look, w looked at "the tile shop" in westbury, its huge. Also another small tile place in Hicksville area, not sure which.
basically you're going to find tile shops will be pretty pricey, home depot and lowes less so.
we picked a glass travatine mix, they were 2x4 subway tile sheets from Home depot at $10 PSF.

I looked forever for my back splash. Then went to Prada Tile in Levittown. They helped me and I was out in no time with tile that literally took me 2 years to find.
I then used them for my bathroom tile last year and again LOVE what they helped me with.

I had a great experience with The Tile Store on Rt. 110 in Farmingdale (across from Republic Airport). Very reasonably priced and great selection!
