Bad experience with dance class
So my 3 yr old dd started dance class and it was a big disappointment. Out of an hour, they danced for less than ten minutes. They mostly sat while the teacher told them stuff and the teacher was cold, really cold. My dd later told me that the lady at dance class was not nice to her. And today she told me that she does not want to go again, but she wants to go back to her old school. (She danced this summer for 4 weeks.) This class looked like so much fun with both tap and ballet and parachute fun rhythm sticks and more.... THAT IS WHAT WAS ADVERTISED, BUT WHAT SHE GOT WAS A LITTLE ADULT DANCE CLASS. I felt so bad for her since she was the youngest it was so difficult for her to keep up, no smiles, no fun. It really was the worst preschool class I have ever seen.
Is this typical? Any suggestions? I am thinking of asking to switch teachers but I am worried that that is not enough and I am afraid of being closed out of other dance schools.
What a waste of money

Re: Bad experience with dance class
I would ask the director about other classes & the option of switching. No dance school wants to lose a student. I'm sure they will do their best to accomodate you - and if the teacher is the issue, the director can work with her.
edited to add: It's not typical at the school my dd goes to. The 3 year olds are taught the positions, etc.

Re: Bad experience with dance class
Was it the first class? If so, I would see if you can get her to go once more to try it out again. If not I would just try to get a different teacher.

Re: Bad experience with dance class
Thanks, that is what I am thinking. But I am also considering completely changing schools. I do not think I can drag her back. It was really poorly organized, but worse the teacher was not kid friendly.
