Baking experts- help! Mocha frosting
I'm going to attempt a mocha buttercream frosting for the chocolate cake I made DH for his bday. The recipe calls for 2 Tbs. of instant coffee dissolved in a splash of water. Problem is I don't have it! Can I substitute 2 Tbsp. of strong coffee? Any ideas? Thanks!

Can you run out and get ones of those starbucks VIA packets? I've used that in recipes before... it's instant espresso though I believe.

Thanks! Great idea, I'll keep that in mind for next time! I used strong coffee and it worked well!

I see you already did it, but "yes" you can substitute strong coffee instead. I never use coffee granules because sometimes it doesn't dissolve completely in the frosting and can leave it a bit grainy.

Same, I never have granules, I just brew some strong coffee and use that. The recipe I had actually had that as a substitute.
