Re: Baldwin Area?? Thoughts? Opinions
I live in Baldwin - and my guess as to why some houses are being listed so cheaply is that they're in the not so good areas of town.
There are some good parts, and not so good parts to Baldwin, but overall i see it improving - they are redeveloping Grand Ave to bring in more shops etc. I think it depends on what school district you're in, but if you're sending the kids to Catholic school, you'd be ok. I think it depends on the neighborhood etc you go into also - i love mine!

The schools in Baldwin aren't that great, but not terrible either. The prices are pretty low but I'd worry about resale value down the line. Sometimes Baldwin with Oceanside schools is still less expensive but holds its value better.

ITA, I'd worry about resale value down the road. Not every potential buyer will want to send kids to private school

If you are going to do private school regardless, I would move to Malverne. That is where we would be if we were going the catholic school route.

Baldwin is not a very nice area from what I heard, and the schools aren't great either

Re: Baldwin Area?? Thoughts? Opinions
I work at a catholic school in Lynbrook. We have children from Baldwin/Malverne as well. I know the village taxes in Lynbrook are very expensive & you get a little house for your money but the town is very close-knit & a good community.
If you're considering Baldwin, you may want to consider parts of Valley Stream or Franklin Square (the other way).
