Baptism reception price question
If I totalled everything correctly, this party could run us around 5,000. The city is so expensive, we really can't cut down the guest list (100 people) at 40.00 per person (at a restaurant, open bar for 3 hours)
What is the average price on LI? Is this what a Christening party really costs?

Re: Baptism reception price question
It cost us just over $2200 for about 50-55 people (and several kids). I didn't have an overt open bar - I just had them keep a running tab for any alcohol that was ordered and paid that separately. We had a brunch so mimosas, bloody marys were included.

Re: Baptism reception price question
IMO I dont think it is necessary to have an open bar. Noone really drinks liquor during an afternoon children's party. I always got the full open bar and hardly anyone would drink. I would do beer, wine and soda and run a tab for liquor if you want if you have a family that drinks. If not, I would just do soda and run a tab for the rest.

Re: Baptism reception price question
We had an open bar but didn't really advertise it....instead we had white and red wine available on all the tables and waitress service. That seemed to cut down on alcohol.
We had a 5 course luncheon in a private restaurant (closed for the public) and it was $24/pp, without alcohol - not sure what the grand total was, DH paid the bill.

Re: Baptism reception price question
For DS we paid with tip $4000 for 75 people. Soda was included in the price. I did a running tab and I think it is the most cost effective way to go with alcohol. I am not a fan of open bar because someone like me is only drinking water so it would be a waste of money for you. For DD's christening we cut the amount of people and the place is $5 less a person so I think it will run us about $2500.

Re: Baptism reception price question
i think 40$ pp is really good if it includes an open bar! esp. in the city. If you ran a tab, do you think you could save some $$?? I think we are going that route....
