Barely saw a heart beat at 6 weeks 3 days

I had my first sono on Thursday I should have been 6 weeks 3days. She said it could be off and I could only be 6 weeks 1 day. She kept making me hold my breath so she could see better and she said she saw a faint flicker. My ob said we have to just sit and wait to see if it gets stronger. Im a nervous wreck I don't have another sono until the 18th. Does anyone have any experience with this? I think about it all day long and just want to cry

I think the fact that she saw a heartbeat at all is great! I just had my first visit and the hb was slower than it should have been. My OB just thought I was measuring behind my original estimated due date. I am going back next week to make sure it is stronger. As long as the heartbeat gets stronger/faster that is what matters. This early on things rapidly change! Even just a day or two makes a world of a difference.

I know it is so hard not to stress but try to relax until your next appointment! I am sure you will see a strong heartbeat!



ets: this is partially why a lot of OB's wait until 8-10 weeks for the first appointment, to avoid any unnecessary stress on the Mamas! Hang in there!

Yup -

I went at 5 weeks and some days and they had difficulty seeing if it was a heart beat or if it was my blood flow through the uterus. Then they said they weren't sure if they could see a fetal pole. My first trimester was a nightmare.

I'm 7 months now - You'll be fine!

I was just over 6 weeks when i was PG with the twins and the Dr had to look really closely and concentrate on the screen to see the HB's. He wasn't concerned at all. By my next visit, their HB's were strong.
