Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
$500 and up -- seems excessive. Does it really make a difference if you get Dutalier? Are the Target and Walmart ones crappy? I am trying to decide what to buy - actually my mom is getting it for me and I don't want her to spend $$$$ unnecessarily. Any feedback on what you got/didn't get? They all feel comfy to me!!
TIA....

Dutalier's main benefit is the ability to match wood colors and fabrics to the rest of your set. If the one they have in stock at Walmart matches and is comfy to you, I think you'll be fine!

Re: Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
For both kids we got a Shermag from Target.com. They are comfortable enough, and I'm overweight and my DH is 6'4" and overweight. I'm sure the Dutalier is super comfy, but it just wasn't in our budget.

I bought an inexpensive one and I love it. It is soo comfy.
To me spending that much for a glider was crazy.

Re: Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
I ended up with a Dutalier that reclines as well, with an ottoman. I spent over $600 on it, but its because I wanted a custom fabric to match the decor. We used it everyday for 2 children so far, so it was worth it for me.
Your best bet is to really go and sit in them. They are all so different, even if they look the same.

I sat on every one in Behr's and BRU. But of course the Target and Walmart ones are only available on line...

Re: Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
I don't have a glider, I have a rocking chair.
The only suggestion I can give is to get one that is cheaper because I have two friends whose children HATE the glider. So, to spend all that money and not use it would be a shame.

Re: Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
I have the Dutalier, and I love it. I have used it every day, many times a day, for 6 months now. It is super comfy. It has been worth every penny. We also got one that is all upolstered so we can put it in our room when the nursery is no more. We just got it in a neutral light khaki color. I have the ottoman too, and it has the nursing tray in it - that has been a waste, I never use that. I use the ottoman, just not the tray.

I have the walmart one. It was $89 with the ottaman, which I thought was great. (We got another one at Big Lots which was also inexepensive) They have it at the store in Garden City - or you can come and test out mine.

I have the Target one and it is great. I actually find it more comfy than some of those expensive models at BRU. Its been being used for a little over 2 years now and still as comfy as day 1.

I bought a Dutalier and I don't think it makes a big difference. I could have gotten a good one at Target and been just as happy. Save your $$ and get something else.

Re: Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
I don't even have a glider, I have an antique rocking chair that's been passed down through my family. I put some cushions on it, and it's GREAT! So, my answer would be that you don't need to spend a lot for someting nice and comfy

Re: Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
I have one from Target that has an ottoman and multiposotion. I think it was around $300, and matched the decor well. Its very comfy and I'm glad I didn't spend more $$ on the pricer models.
found it:

eta: they have other wood finishes also:

We spent alot on our Dutailer also and got the reclining one with the ottoman in a custom light brown micro-fiber fabric so that it will match our living room/den furniture. We love it. But if we were not planning on using it in the den, I wouldn't have spent so much money.

Re: Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
we bought ours from target.com for under $200 - DD is almost 8 mths now and it is still in great shape and is very comfy - we use it every day. I wouldt spend the extra $$ - not worth it imo...

It did to me but I tested them out and could tell the difference. I got a Best Chairs glider and ottoman. If you have tested a cheaper one and it's comfortable then go for it. No need to spend the extra money if you can get comfort for less.

Re: Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
We bought a Dutalier from Target and saved a bundle of money that way. They sell them in the store and online. I got both a glider and an ottoman and they were much much much cheaper than they were at BRU and BBB. Only catch was that I couldn't customize the fabric but the one I got has a nice kahki color that goes with everything.
The glider is $199 and the ottoman is $89.99

Re: Barging here -- need help with glider selection!
Thank you all so much -- the reviews were pretty good on the ones from Target (except the screw holes lining up but DH is a whiz with that stuff). SInce I can't try it in the store, I wanted to see if anyone had them and what they thought. I went to Walmart and they didn't have any out, of course.
I think I will go with the Dutalier from Target posted above - thanks so much!!
And now, since I am saving her $$, mom can get me the bookcase too!! LOL..
ETA-- OK I just registered for this one - just so I don't forget which one I picked out!!
