Any baseball parents out there? I have 2 sons 4 and 6. We have been using the little tykes plastic tball set for years. Besides that we don’t have anything baseball related. What can I buy them for their age? What type of mitt, ball, bat? Any recommendations?

Re: Baseball

Baseball mom here, but DS is 16! Chat Icon Your sons are very young so I wouldn't spend so much, because at the end, it might not be their interest. Believe, that if they like baseball in the future, you'll have to spend a lot! Maybe for your 6 y/o DS I'd suggest to sign him up next spring on a little league and go from there. My DS started little league at 7 or 8, and then the coaches can suggest you about mittens, etc, depending on their position. I'd stick with plastic bats and lots of time and fun hitting a ball.

Re: Baseball

Totally agree with what Adri posted. My son is 15 (almost 16). They are very young, and will outgrow mitts and bats so quickly, so maybe purchasing a cheap glove from Walmart.
See if your school has a youth league and sign him up.
Right now my son has 3 gloves, and still wants another onChat Icon Same with the bats. Can get very expensive as they get older, (but not as expensive as his hockey)

Hope they just "have fun"!!!!

I definitely agree with Diane - inexpensive gloves are a good way to start. And a couple of t balls to throw around. I wouldn’t get a bat yet as they grow out of them.

Both boys should be eligible for LL in the spring, in my town it now starts at 4 (it used to be 5). If you sign them up for little league you may want to get them helmets then (our league stopped team helmets during Covid)
