Basements
We have a basement that does NOT have access from the outside.
Is it possible to put an outside entrance on a basement that doesn't already have one???
TIA

Re: Basements
I don't see why not? I guess it would be a little involved, but not impossible.
We looked at a house that had no access to the basement from INSIDE the house. You had to go outside!

Re: Basements
Yes my Dad did it years ago in two of the houses he owned.
My only suggestion would also be to install a canopy over the opening. Rain can collect at the bottom and sometimes seep in if the drain gets clogged or if we have a lot of rain. He invested in an aluminum cover painted to match the colors of the house. There were no problems with water after that. My in-laws hav e one on theirs as well.
Sorry I don't have a pic.

Re: Basements
It can be done. You have to bring in a skilled mason who specializes in cutting entrances in, and licensed. Definitely put a canopy or roofing over it. You live in suffolk? You can find in the yellow pages or penny saver.

Well, it was at least 10 years ago and we have construction in the family/... but I'll ask her.

Re: Basements
My friend had it done - I think it cost him about $3K, but the guy he used was a friend who moved down to Florida. Not only do you have to put the stairs in, but a drain is needed at the landing. When I built my house, I had an entrance put in from the garage to the basement.
