Bathing Suit Question

My dd will be in 12-18 this summer. When I was at the Gap yesterday the sales woman told me that when buying bathing suits you should always buy a size up bc they run small and bc of the diaper so I bought 3 in 18-24 months. Is that what everyone else does? I am wondering if I should exchange for 12-18 or keep the 18-24

Re: Bathing Suit Question

I saw the cute suits too and was debating on getting only b/c I find that Gap runs weird. Now he's in the 6 to 12 months and I find it small on DS. He's only 8 mons

Re: Bathing Suit Question

I made a bone head move and bought a 3-6 and a 6-12.. I need to return all the 3 to 6 stuff and I'm gonna get a bathing suit in the next size after 6-12....

I recall with DD that Gap ran big- but now I feel like their sizing has changed- he's 2 months old and wearing the 3 to 6 month now.. so all the stuff I got that's 3-6 is pretty much a waste... so back to the Gap I go for exchanges.

I think you should be OK though- if it has a drawstring though, maybe it is OK to go bigger.

Re: Bathing Suit Question

I kinda agree with that. Last summer I bought the correct size (true to size) and she outgrew them so quickly. If your DD is wearing any type of two piece I would also suggest the next size so the top doesn't keep riding up.

Re: Bathing Suit Question

Well it depends on the child. DD#1 was in 12 months her 1st summer - (she turned 12 months in June). We had 12 months suits for her and 12-18 months suits for our disney trip in Sept/Oct. Last year I got her size 2T suits. Most fit perfectly - I did get some 3T b/c everyone insisted I needed them in the stores and that 2T would NEVER work for my DD and they were swimming on her so I ended up putting them away for this coming summer.
