With a child the curtain is so much easier, and it is nice that you can change the look of the bathroom by changing the curtain. I have both and I HATE cleaning the door even though it is all glass, I hate the spots. So I refuse to let DH take a shower in that bathroom.

Re: Bathroom: Sliding glass doors or curtain.....
We had the doors at our apt and I hated it, although it offered a rack for washcloths in the inside and a towel rack on the outside. The doors just got dirty way too often and as someone who is tall and has long arms, I always hit the doors with my elbow.
At our house, we have the shower curtain, but we got the the curtain pole that is curved out, so it gives you an additional 12" or something like that in the shower on the sides. The inside shower curtain can be washed, to get rid of any mildew, etc.
Plus, with the curtain it allows someone to run into the bathroom if they need something without ruining my privacy whereas the shower doors would make that hard.

Re: Bathroom: Sliding glass doors or curtain.....
I have the glass doors & I HATE them. No matter how hard I try to keep them clean, it never works.
I then decided to get a shower (fabric) washable curtain & put it inside the glass doors. It has eliminated some of the cleaning but you still have to wipe it down

An alternative to the doors is a glass screen (of sorts). My friend has it and it's great.

The doors look nice when they are clean, but I hate cleaning the doors! DH likes them better than the curtain, but he doesn't clean them.

I totally agree.
I ripped out the shower doors in my old house and put up a curtain rod.
So much cleaner and when the curtain liner gets dirty you buy a new one at Marburn for $1 or 2 and toss the old.

My Mom has the doors and I loathe them Life was so much easier with a curtain. Giving the baby a bath is such a PITA.

I have doors in out apt and hate them. I they are so hard to clean, and its hard to reach into the tub to scrub it. I will never have shower doors again.

I like the look of shower doors better but curtains are alot easier to keep clean and you can change them if you want to give your bathroom a new look.

Re: Bathroom: Sliding glass doors or curtain.....
I was raised with doors and HATED cleaning them. So we love having a shower curtain. Plus when it gets grimmy, I just buy a new liner at the dollar store. LOVE MY SHOWER CURTAINS!!!

I like the look of doors-but shower curtains are easier to clean. However I am in the minority-I will suffer for a pretty bathroom

Re: Bathroom: Sliding glass doors or curtain.....
We have doors in our new house and I'll be counting the days until we can afford a bathroom makeover (more like years, lol!)
I prefer curtains, but plenty of people like doors. My friend recently moved from her house with shower doors to her condo with a curtain and hates it! She thinks the doors are better at keeping the water in the shower. I think she just needs to get better about keeping the liner inside the tub.
I think the curtain / liner is easier to keep clean, too, but I'll be joining the ranks of those with doors soon.

Re: Bathroom: Sliding glass doors or curtain.....
I prefer the curtains. We have doors now and I really don't like them, they're a PITA to clean the doors themselves and to clean the tub itself. At least with a curtain I just throw it over the rod and it's out of my way.

I prefer a shower curtain, the doors get way to dirty and it is hard to keep up with cleaning them.

I like the look of glass sliding doors, but HATE to clean them, and its a PITA to give a baby a bath. My mom has them in the bath at her house and no one can use that shower cause of those damn doors so they stay looking pretty.
I would go shower curtain all the way.

Re: Bathroom: Sliding glass doors or curtain.....
We have both - a curtain around the bathtub (which is clawfoot and has a circular curtain rod, so we didn't have any other option) and doors on the full-length shower.
ETA: I do agree that it's harder to clean the door and the curtains are more practical in the long run.

I have a curtain, I hate shower doors, first I don't like cleaning them and 2nd, I don't like leaning over the track to try and clean the tub.

LOVE the look of the doors but they are a PAIN to clean and they get in the way to clean the bathtub.

Re: Bathroom: Sliding glass doors or curtain.....
besides the obvious cleaning issue, if you have a tub/shower, the doors are also annoying becuase you now can't sit on the tub's edge....
Curtains rock.... I have a liner with grommeted ring holes, so it never tears. Also, westelm.com has gorgeous curtains! ours is a couple years old and still looks great.

Re: Bathroom: Sliding glass doors or curtain.....
I prefer the sliding glass doors. I dont like curtains, i hate when they cling to your leg, it makes me feel grossed out.
My FMIL has clear glass doors, and they are spotless. But she has had a cleaning lady every single week for the past 20 something years. So the bathrooms in the general is IMMACULATE.
