BBQ ideas
Have two family friends over Saturday and planning on grilling. 6 adults and kids ages 2yrs - 5yrs old. Need some good side ideas
Here's what we're thinking- pita chips hummus cut up veggies guacamole potato chips skirt steak chicken kabobs maybe salmon hot dogs pasta salad red cabbage salad (shredded purple cabbage, shredded carrots, cranberries, mandarin oranges, nuts mixed with dressing)
Any other sides? They are bringing the desserts, but I'll get cookies just in case. Figured the kids will eat the hot dogs or steak with pasta salad. I've had these friends over before and the kids sit for about 5 mins and they all run and play together.

BBQ ideas
how about potato salad or roasted potatoes? Corn on the cob or just grill some veggies on the BBQ and you're good.

This exactly! I'm not a big meat eater and I often have trouble finding something to eat at a BBQ so I think another salad and corn and veggies would be perfect!

Re: BBQ ideas
i grilled veggies and its always a big hit. slice up eggplant, endives, radichio, zucchini . salt pepper and olive oil. toss and throw it on a grill pan. im sure you can use aluminum foil but not sure how it will turn out. You can purchase a grill pan for about $10 at bbb or macys.

My favorites is grilled zucchini. Just cut in half, EVOO, Salt, Pepper, Garlic powder if you want. Grill on each side then cut after grilling. This way you can do it right on the grates and don't have to worry about pieces falling thru.
Corn on the Cobb Tomato/Cucumber Salad or Green Salad
I've even done french fries or roasted potatoes in disposable pans.

I agree with grilling vegetables. DH put eggplant and red peppers on the BBQ in a grill pan last year and they were delicious.
