BBQ Menu?
I am having a 4th of July BBQ and looking for menu ideas? I am also invitng a couple that are excellent chefs and i am so intimidated to cook for them. Normally i would do hot dogs , hamburgers but i don't feel this is up to par for them? Any ideas

Re: BBQ Menu?
I would still do burgers and dogs - just remember it's all in the details - little surprises and things that are just a bit different or unexpected make all the difference in the world. You can bump up the flavor profile of the burgers by adding minced garlic, coarse salt, some softened butter, a little steak sauce and some worcestershire. You can toast the buns for both the burgers and dogs and have a nice little toppings bar including some grilled onions, crisp bacon, homemade pickle relish, good quality sauerkraut, dill slices, etc...
I also love to do grilled baby lamb chops.. they are a HUGE crowd pleaser and have converted many people who insisted that they 'don't like lamb'. Just prepare a marinade of lemon juice, a LOT of garlic, a little mint, some rosemary and olive oil. Add salt and pepper and then pour into a Ziploc bag filled with chops. Let it sit overnight and grill to medium rare.
Try a nice German or Burmese Potato salad for a change and do a zippy little corn salad or tortellini salad with lots of brightly colored fresh veggies.
Grill some garlic shrimp skewers and maybe do a few grilled pizzas with creative toppings as appetizers.
Most of all.. have fun. Food tastes better when you cook with love and passion as opposed to stress and anxiety!

Re: BBQ Menu?
i would do hot dogs & hamburgers and also marinate some skirt steak (in a teriyaki glaze maybe) and grill that up too. I think people expect the basics when they go to a summer bbq

i woudl still do burgers and hot dogs. maybe marinate skirt steak or london broil. what about maybe ribs? corn on the cob on the grill? you could shake it up with some different side dishes. chicken kebabs are usually a hit.

Re: BBQ Menu?
for BBQ I would say go with the classics. Pulled pork, brisket, grilled catfish if any non-meat eaters are coming. Corn bread, mac and cheese, collards. And then maybe have pasta or potato salad and a green salad.
