Bbq menu
I'm trying to start planning the menu for our big summer bbq (even though it's still a ways away lol)
Last year we had a ton of left over food
I was thinking :
Hamburgers Hot Dogs Baked Beans Baked Ziti
What is a good veggie to do for a large crowd?
I know my in laws will bring something, as will my parents
What should I have for dessert?

Re: Bbq menu
Ayne11 gave me a recipe last summer - TY!! .
It is so light and sooo delicious.
1 graham cracker pie crust 1 container of yogurt (your choice) 1 container of cool whip
Mix the yogurt and cool whip together. Put into the pie crust Freeze Take it out a little before you are going to serve it so it's not completely frozen.

Bbq menu
For a BBQ veggie, I like a fresh garden salad, corn on the cob, or sliced cucumbers and tomatoes in an italian dressing.
For dessert, from Ralphs or a pizza place you can buy a large bucket italian ice. My SIL did that at a BBQ they had last summer and it was a huge hit!

Re: Bbq menu
My mom has a big BBQ every year and last year she made a salad of cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, mozzarella balls and basil tossed in a light italian dressing - it was soooo good!
For dessert I would do something light, maybe a trifle.

Re: Bbq menu
For veggies, grill some and put on a platter or have some sort of pasta salad (like orzo/spiral pasta).
For dessert, how about a watermelon roll. My sister always makes this for a BBQ party and it's a huge hit.

Re: Bbq menu
Corn on the cob is easy peasy and pretty much a BBQ staple in my book.
ETA: We also do chicken and veggie skewers. Some just all veggies.

Re: Bbq menu
I would also add chicken and some kind of skewer. I've had shrimp ones a few times at BBQs.
I make a big pasta salad with fresh basil and mozzarella and this is always a hit.
If you are concerned with having leftovers just get some Tupperware and send home with your guests.

Re: Bbq menu
I like to do corn on the cob with chipotle butter on the side.
You could also do veggie skewers...portabello mushrooms are great on the grill.
This is also a great summer dessert that's nice and light: Pineapple carpaccio with Thai basil and blueberries
