BDTD moms who had a newborn and toddler....
how long did u wait to take the newborn out? what type of places did you go? My Ped says not to take out my newborn for 8 weeks... how can I possibly do that when I have a 3 year old??

I went out as soon as I could drive (2 weeks). My 2yo has a lot of energy and needs to get outside as much as possible. We've been going to parks, playgrounds and stores every day. I think we've visited almost every park around our house

With my first DS, my ped said we could go outside for walks at any time.
If you are due during the warmer months, it should be fine to go to the park, or walks outdoors.
I was just told to avoid closed, confined places.

my babies were preemies, so we stayed in A LOT, plus it was winter.
I would start with walks or the park. Keep the baby in his seat or in a carrier. My ped didn't really want the babies in public places either. it's hard with a 3 yr old who wants to go out. My mom or DH would take my son out at night or weekends a lot.

Ummmm you can't! I took DS out after about a week in the stroller and 2 weeks in stores once I could drive. I kept him in his car seat and VERY covered up. I wouldn't let a soul near him.

I waited the 8 weeks....My DD was 26 months when DS was born. Whenever I went anywhere, I would leave the baby with someone and bring DD. And on the weekends DH or I would take her places. It was really fine for us.

Um, we went to Target on the way home from the hospital 
We were out right away. I am pretty laid back about that. But we only go out when it's nice

We ahve been out but I cover the carseat with a blanket when we are inside (use the snap and go with the carseat). I've had to pick up DS at daycare and the baby has no choice but to be with me...that I hate but we go every day and I just cover him. During the day I have to get out of the house so we go out and do one errand a day.

8 weeks seems a little long...I wouldnt go to crowded stores/malls ... but a trip to the park as long as the baby stays covered doesnt seem all that wrong
we waited a month bec my DS was born in Jan and were advised to wait til the temp was 40ish and it happened to be cold...but we took my DD out for a walk the next day around the block!

I waited maybe 2 wks and was out and about. But Colin landed in the hospital at 7wks with a virus so not sure that was the best idea 
BUT, it was winter. Not sure I'd wait more than a wk in the beautiful weather

DD#2 was born in Dec and in the NICU for 10 days, plus I had a c-section, so we didn't go anywhere for at least 8 weeks.

right now I only take my DD to the grandparents houses.. she is 6 weeks and I refuse to take her out in stores , public plaes until she gets her shots..My mom has been a huge help taking my almost 3 yr old out with her which helps.
Peapod at Stop n shop is wonderful right now thats the only way I go food shopping at the moment.. so worth it.

I have DS 2 due in a couple weeks, my DS will be 19 months. we will be outside right away bc it's not fair to keep older DS in the house. I'll keep baby in snugride covered w/a blanket

Hmmm we went out for real at around 2 weeks old this time around. We went to the mall (for shopping and pics with the easter bunny), to the duck pond, Friendly's. I'm an easygoing mom - some say TOO easygoing
With Genevieve she was taking pics with Santa at one week old.

DD was in the NICU for a month.
She came home in June.
We did a lot of out n the yard play, went to parks, went to Greenport.
Had playdates, but, they all took place outside.
