Bedtime
What time would you say is appropriate for a 9 and 12 yr old to go to bed on school nights?
on weekends?
I think weekdays should be 8-8:30 pm and no later and on weekends 10-11 pm the latest. My husband does not agree and thinks appropriate bedtime for his kids is 10 pm (school nights) as they wake up at 7 am.
So what time is it appropriate

Re: Bedtime
crashing - not a step parent, but I am a mom to an 11 1/2 year old. She goes to bed between 8:30 - 9:00 on school nights, and maybeeeeee 10-1030 on non school nights. She's super cranky if she doesnt' get enough sleep though.
She gets up for school at 6-615, and when "allowed" to sleep on the weekends, she is usually up by 8-830 anyway.

thank you! I feel like "my time" is the "proper time" but I have no kids of my own....so I feel like it's hard for me to say this is what I deem to be proper.

I often feel like this myself but, I always base my thoughts on what I had to do when I was their age. I think 10 on school nights is too late. My niece is 11 and shes in bed by 8

SS is 10 and he goes to bed at 9 on school nights and 10 on weekends unless we are doing something then we let him stay up later on weekends.

Re: Bedtime
My kids will be in bed by 9 when they are that age. I wasn't allowed to stay up past 9 at that age.

Re: Bedtime
glad I am not the only one who agrees to the time! it's just so difficult sometimes when they are not my kids kwim? I don't want to say something for the opposite to be done and for them to see you know? It's frustrating sometimes....but at least after I told DH how others agreed that 9 pm is proper he said "you are right." Finally! lol

Re: Bedtime
I can't imagine sending him to bed by 8 each night. My 6 yr old goes to bed then when he has no sports. On nights he plays sports he does not even get home until 8;30.
I think 9 might be appropriate on school nights.

Re: Bedtime
I think 8 is a little early for a 12 yr old who wakes up at 7. 9 for the 12 yr old seems more like it. and perhaps 830 for the 9 year old.
