Re: Being that I seem to be the only one posting about it...
Mine has seemingly gone insane lately...he is battling severe gas issues which have not been helped by formula designed for gas. Also, positioning him properly for feedings and constant burpings aren't really doing the trick either. It's just a battle we have to get through, hopefully soon!! He's getting better though...last night he slept in 3-4 hour intervals for the first time in a week!

Re: Being that I seem to be the only one posting about it...
My DD had colic for the first 4 months so I definitely know about screaming!!! I had to call in the troops (Mom from out of state and SIL daily) to help b/c I was ready for a breakdown. DD is almost 9 months now so it all seems like a distant memory....and I try to keep it that way .
Sorry you are going through a hard time. It will get better. Hang in there!!!!!

Re: Being that I seem to be the only one posting about it...
Ohhhhhhhhh no no no, I promise you are NOT alone in this. Take a look at my posts from September, 2005- September, 2006, and you'll see you were DEFINITELY NOT ALONE.
Some babies are mellow, many others are not. For many, it takes a good 3-4 months to adjust to the world outside mommy's belly. This type of screaming usually peaks at about 8 weeks, and starts to subside around 10 weeks. There are some techniques to mitigate it (i.e. hold baby at all times - use a sling, baby bjorn, or whatever you have), but really there's not much you can do other than wait it out.
I know it feels futile and like you're going to lose your mind at any moment, but I promise, I PROMISE, it does get better. In the meantime, take time for yourself. Enlist the help of family, friends or whomever. When DH comes home, hand baby over for an hour and LEAVE THE HOUSE or take a nap. Worst case scenario, if no one is there to help and you feel you're reaching your breaking point, place baby in his/her crib while you shower for 10 minutes. The crying won't kill him/her, and he'll never remember.
