Besides your DH..are you having.....
someone else in the delivery room with you? At our birthing class tonight, the nurse mentioned it. I thought these days everyone really had their DH and that was it. Am I wrong?

I wouldn't want anyone else except DH with me. I feel like it's our moment to share and ours alone. He was the only one with me when we had our DD, it will be the same with this baby. Everyone else can see us right after.

I had my mom there. To each their own... but for me, i wanted her there without question. She was a labor & delivery room nurse for 30yrs - has the patience of a saint & is very soothing. Dh was fine with her being there; i think he was relieved when she showed up. She coached my breathing through every contraction and got me to 8cm before asking for an epidural. And she did my counting for my pushing. It was an amazing experience and im beyond thankful i shared that with her.

Just DH. The nurse was going to let my parents visit for a short while but the contractions got really strong and I felt them through the epidural. I didn't want anyone else there at that point. I think everyone is different. I wanted peace and quiet, I actually sent DH away to eat dinner lol

I just had DH. There was also a doc and a nurse in there, obviously - so anyone else would've gotten on my nerves. DH was really a great help. I was having a hard time pushing and he kept telling me 'come on babe, I see her head, keep pushing'. And it helped a lot.

With my DS, I had both DH and my mother in the room. I'm adopted and my Mom never was in a LD room so that was a pretty cool experience to give to her. I'll see how  delivery goes b/c my DH has a crazy call schedule so my parents will probably be on board again to take me to the hospital.

With my first I had my DH and my mom. It was her first grandchild and I wanted her to be there too. With my second, it was just us. With this baby, it will probably just be us again.

ALthough its not uncommon to have someone else in the room with you. both of my SIL's had my MIL in the room with them

I plan to have DH (he wasn't in there last time because it was an emergency C) and his Aunt..who was there last time. She is an L&D NP, and someone in my corner, So she has to be there, she was instrumental in saving our lives during last delivery..I can't imagine doing it without her..

My sister wants to be there but DH definitely feels like this is supposed to be something special for the two of us and I'm fine with that. He and my sister have been joking about it. He keeps telling her that if she wants to be there he gets to stand by my head and she has to stand by my feet, lol.

No way. Just my DH.
I'm having a sched. c-section, so it's really not an option. But even if it was a vag delivery, it would still be just the 2 of us. We were the only 2 there when she was conceived, we'll be the only 2 there when she's born (except for the doctors and nurses of course!)

It was just my DH in there with me but I have to say I was in there for my sister and it was an AMAZING experience. I felt so lucky to be there and to share that with her. Also she had a long, hard, labor so it was really helpful for her DW to have me in there too bc it gave her support and a break when needed bc at some points my sister would really need one of us there to help her through contractions but people need to eat, pee, take a breath etc. .

Absolutely not. That is an amazing experience that I want to share with DH. There are so many experiences in your child's life that you share with other people. This is one that I wanted just for the two of us. That's how it was with DS and that's how I want it this time.

I can't understand why anyones mother would ever be upset for not being a part of the delivery...my mother wouldn't think twice about the fact that DH and I would want that to ourselves.
there is nothing wrong with the couple asking someone like a mother/sister etc if that is what THEY want. But for anyone to express upset over not being included?? I mean geez..to ME its such a private and special moment that should be just me and DH. Everyone else can be there afterwards! I would never ever dream of asking my daughter or daughter in law to be included!!
