Best cardio to do at the gym
I'm a working mom who literally has about 30 minutes to exercise in the morning. I used to run outside, but just can't take it in this cold.
So I recentlly started going back to the gym. I have a problem running on the treadmill. Ijust get so BORED and distracted. My earphones pop out, etc.. I've tried it a bunch of times, but it just doesn't work for me.
So I am looking for a good alternative to running. I've been using the bike for 30 minutes on Hill setting at level 8 or higher.
Any other suggestions?

I get bored on the treadmill also. What I like to do is go on the elliptical. Agreat blast is to do ellipitcal for 10, step machine for 10, bike or row machine for 10...your mixing it up so you wont be bored.

That's what I was going to suggest. Switch it up and do 10 on one and 10 on another.

I love the eliliptical as well. I go back and fourth between the elliptical and the Step machine so i don't get too bored.

Re: Best cardio to do at the gym
How many days a week do you go? I have just recently gotten into circuit training and I honestly can't get enough of it.
It keeps everything FRESH and new and I look forward to it - it's actually fun! Okay well at least for me it is.
I normally circuit train and follow it up with only 15-20 minutes of running which is just enough time for me to stick with the dreadmill
If you circuit train with a high enough intensity you should burn to close to the same amount of calories you would doing cardio. On top of that you'll be strength training which will help you burn more calories AFTER your workout as opposed to straight cardio.
Something like this could be done easily in 30 minutes including 15 minutes of cardio:

Re: Best cardio to do at the gym
Thanks Azoodie. I'll try it out.
I'm concerned that without a trainer (which I don't have) or in a class, I won't use the necessary intensity and get lazy. BUt I will include it in my workout.
I do know how well circuit training works. Before I got pregnant, I did a bootcamp in Central Park for 6 weeks and it was amazing!

Do you have a heart rate monitor? I would pick one up! That way you would be sure that you are working hard enough
