Re: best credit card with perks?
I used to have a Charles schwab cc that got 2% cash back but they sold it to bank of america and that only gives 1% cashback with promotions for higher. I also have an Amex delta skymiles which is decent but I'd rather have the cash than free flights

Re: best credit card with perks?
I have the JetBlue Amex card. It is the only card that I have that has an annual fee, but it is only $40. I charge everything to that card and pay it off every month, just to accumulate points. I usually end up with at least 2 free flights. I believe that I get 1 point per dollar spent and certain places give me 2 or 3 points per dollar spent, and then if I book a flight through JetBlue for myself, I get 8 points per dollar spent. The $40 dollars is well worth it for me.

Re: best credit card with perks?
Discover is pretty good. Each month you get 5% cash back on certain purchases. For example, this Jan/Feb/Mar is 5% back on gas, movies, and museums. I love the Costco Amex card, though! 3% cash back on gas, 2% on Costco, travel, and restaurants, and 1% back on everything else all year long. Not too sure about the interest rates as we pay everything off in full each month.

Re: best credit card with perks?
DH and I have the Chase Freedom. We use it for our monthly expenses and pay it off at the end of each month. We get 1% cash back. Every quarter they have a certain category that gets you 5% cash back (I think it's gas stations this month). You can directly apply your rewards cash to your bill, get a check, or use it towards other purchases through Chase's website.

LOVE my Discover card. I get 1% on every single purchase. And like the PP said, each quarter there are different 5% categories. Amazon is 2%. And if you shop online a lot like I do, you can get up to 20% back on some purchases if you shop through their site (like ebates). You can apply the Cashback to your balance, buy items, get gift cards, or donate it. And now you can also use your Cashback to pay for your Amazon purchases. I've gotten so many things for free thanks to my Discover Cashback.

I def say get one associated with an airline that you would use! The free tickets def make it worth it! I rather know my ticket to a vacation is free as opposed to a $50 gift card to target! HAHA!

Re: best credit card with perks?
We just use a regular old Amex Gold. I've used my reward points for first class flights to Hawaii and Europe several times. I also use it to get gift cards around Christmas and then use the gift cards to buy gifts. It's the only card DH and I use.

Capital One Green card.
1% cash back on everything (no limit)
50% cash back on your yearly total (again no limit)
No annual fee.
We use it for everything we can and pay it in full each month. We look at it as, everything we used to use our debit card for, is now MAKING us money!
DH also has one for his business.

Re: best credit card with perks?
Love my AmEx Blue Cash card! NO annual fee!
The rewards are like this:
If your Year to Date spending is between $0-$6,500, you get 1% back on gas, groceries, and drugstore and .5% back everywhere else.
If you're YTD spending is over $6,500, you get 5% back on gas, groceries, and drugstore and 1.25% back everywhere else.
DH & I put mostly everything on this card so we have no problem reaching that $6,500 mark to start earning the higher bracket of reward percentages. We pay it off in full every month but I think the interest rate is 13.25%.
You can use the rewards for credit off your statement, gift cards, or other brand-name merchandise.
eta: No limit on cashback

50% cash back on your yearly total? Is that the yearly total of cash back you have already gotten? If not, I want 50% cash back on what I spend in a year, that would be awesome.

Re: best credit card with perks?
We're happy with our Chase Freedom card. No fee, good cash back %. I never bother with the gift cards, I just have them deposit the cash back directly in my bank account each month. We purposely charge everything on the card and pay it off each month, so the cash back adds up nicely.

I just looked this card up on line. It is 1% cash back, with no limit, and then it is 50% of the amount of cash back you received.
So some math time. Lets say you spend 3000 a month (pay it off every month) 3000*12 = 36,000 1% cash back = 360 50% bonus on anniv. date = 180 total cash back = 540
I get 2% cash back on every purchase with a Fidelity Amex, no limit.
More math. 3000*12 = 36,000 2% cash back = 720

The capital one card is essentially a 1.5% cash back card.
I have the fidelity Amex 2%. But that card is underwritten by FIA like the schwab was so I am not expecting that card to last much longer.

The reason I thought the Schwab card went to 1% was that it was bought out by Bank of America. I think there would be a huge antitrust case if BOA tried to by Fidelity. It would not go through. Now if you think they will reduce their bonus to 1% that is a different story. I am not sure but as far as I know they have not said they are doing it. I like it because it is cash back, not just a random gift card. ETA: FIA owns a lot of cards. The RC companion gives a similar dollar value. Someone mentioned another card above that also gave a similar bonus value as well. I think 2% in its various forms is a common bonus for excellent credit scores.
