Re: Best Cruise Lines

We did Royal Caribbean for our honeymoon (ALaskan cruise) and we could not have asked for anything more. The cabins were clean, the food was good, the layout of the ship was great and the service was excellent.
We loved it, infact we are going on another one of their cruises in August, cant wait!

Re: Best Cruise Lines

I like dealing with RCCL. The people are always nice, the service is great and when my colleages did a ship tour they were treated like the only people on the ship. They got a sit down meal seperate from everyone else. My other colleges just did a 4 day Monarch of the Seas trip to ensenada mexico and had a blast. They were in an oceanview cabin and said it was wonderful.

I am not a big fan of carnival. Their people are annoying to deal with, I did a ship inspection and it was incredably unorganized, the staterooms feel incredably tiny and the food was ok.

Costa is really great. Their prices are awesome and their customer service is great. Their rooms are spacious and their is always something to do on a Costa Cruis line

MSC I find to be snooty. I hate calling them for rates because they act like they are the only cruise line out there. They are very upper class, know it and act like it.

Norwegian drives me up a wall. I am on hold for over 20 minutes on average with their support. Then when I ask for information it's all negative from them. They fail to find the Yes. I held for over 20 minutes to get told sorry cant help you, can take your name and number and have someone call you. Um no, I held for answers that I can not find on your website so if you have to put me on hold to find the answers then do that because this is just ridiculous. Some of their ships are older ships. Meaning built in the early to mid 90's. They do have 2 great hawaii cruises. Pride of hawaii and Pride of Aloha. You fly to hawaii and cruise all the islands. Both brand new ships. NCL also has the Pearl which is doing the inaguaral sailing in December. They also offer some 9 and 11 day cruises where other cruise lines dont offer that.

I did a training with celebrity which is owned by RCCL. They were great. I learned so much about their ships.

The more upscale like Cunard and Silver Seas I hate calling. They are so snobby. Their interior staterooms are like 5,000 a person.

My experience with the cruise lines comes from dealing with them on a daily basis

Re: Best Cruise Lines

We have only cruised Carnival and we had a great time. We're leaving for a NCL cruise this Sunday, so I'll let you know about the line.

ETS- We liked having more freedom on NCL, but overall we were more impressed with Carnival.

Re: Best Cruise Lines

I have never had a bad experience with Calebrity. We are cruising on Carnival for our HM (finnally after 8 months) in July. I've always had good experiences with them also.

Re: Best Cruise Lines

I have only been on RC and only once. It was just ok for me. Probably had lots to do with the fact that we were supposed to be going to Bermuda but because of a tropical storm we went to Canada instead. I think the whole morale of the ship was pretty low from that. I have heard that while RC has very nice ships, that Carnival cruises are more fun . . . .

Re: Best Cruise Lines

Princess was the best I have been on.
Costa was nice but had a very old crowd and was laid back
Carnival was also nice, but way to many kids everywhere.

Re: Best Cruise Lines

I have done 1 NCL, 10-11 Celebrity Cruises, 1 (defunct cruise line) in the Med. and 1 Princess (we have a second booked with them.

I enjoyed NCL but that was a long time ago - but looking back after Celebrity - celebrity won hands down.

Celebrity is the tops of the mass markets.

Many people love RCCL - but then I have heard mixed things too - mostly about food. But I would def. like to try RCCL someday.

Princess - we went on one last year and loved it. I think the larger Princess boats are probably better for people our age - there was a more diverse age group with lots of younger couples and younger families.

Honestly there were somethings about Princess that were better than celebrity, some the same, and some worse. But overall - I would say Princess had more going on, more pools, and we didn't see a huge difference from Celebrity. We are booked on the brand new Crown Princess for Nov.

I would be happy to answer any questions about ones I have been on if you want some first hand knowledge.

I would say for someone in their 20's-30's RCCL and Princess are probably the best bets - but many people like NCL. Celebrity is amazing - but can have an older crowd - this never bothered us - but not sure what you are looking for.

Holland America tends to have an older crowd. MSC is an italian line and will be very european. Costa I believe is also rather the same - but I don't know much about them.

Check out this site it might help you make a decision: cruisecritic
