Best sunscreen to get for very fair skinned parents/babies?
DH and I are extrememly fair skinned and so is DD. What is the best sunscreen to get for adults and the best one to get for babies in refernece to brand and SPF??
ETA: Isn't it the higher the SPF, the better the protection or the other way around?

My kids are night and day. Thr oldest is kind of olive skinned like dh. The youngest is like me, white as a sheet. I use target brand spf 50 on both, spray for dd #1 and baby for #2. It works great on both of them. And yes the higher the spf the better protection.

Ditto to the Target brand..I use 30 and +
my youngest is so light, she looks like porcelain! lol

There's a very, very nominal difference between 30 and 50. And now with the new FDA guidelines, going forward sunscreens can't claim that they're higher than SPF50--they'll just be called 50+.
You want one that's broad-spectrum--so it covers both UVA and UVB rays. I personally prefer a physical blocker for babies with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide rather than one with chemical blockers, which can be irritating. I like Badger--I don't find it as white as some others but it's pricey.

We are very, very pale. Last year I used Neutrogena baby SPF I think 75 or something. This year we went w/ Aveeno Baby, SPF 50. These were the two my dermatologist recommended. As a very fair person, I wouldn't go below 50. The difference is nominal, but if you're prone to skin cancer, why not go higher?

The difference between 30 and 50 is less than 1%, NOT worth the chemicals for a child IMO.
Think about this, Australia, the country with the highest incidence of skin cacner, recently set the limit for labeling as SPF 30+, in USA companies can make money by stuffing more chemicals and calling it SPF 50+.
Most peds will only recommend you go up to 30 SPF.
California Baby makes a very decent one, easy to apply not too greesy.
I love Baby SIlk Sunscreen Wipes I was using them on DS when he was 3m, they are safe as can possibly be.
