Best thing that happened to you
Being blessed with the most caring, supportive, self sacrificial parents ever. Although I started the "Worst Thing That Happened To You Thread' and answered that the worst thing that ever happened to me was my father's sudden passing last year... Everytime I think of my dad, which is every day, I cant help but smile at how blessed and lucky I am that he was mine for 38 years.

Losing 300 pounds over 15 years ago. It changed my life and if I had not done it, I might not be alive today. I have been able to accomplish so many things I never dreamed of before.
Kudos to you! I will 100% agree with this.
13 years ago I lost 242 lbs... and the change it has made in my life is astounding...
It gave me the courage/confidence to put myself first for once and in doing so - I met DH...
And yes, he is the most amazingly best thing that happened to me as a result... I wouldn't be 1/2 the person I am (even though I am 1/2 the person I was) with out this man.
WOW you guys... this is inspiring!

Re: Best thing that happened to you
I want to say my children, but first I have to say that getting my dog literally saved my life. I was out of work, home and terribly in a deep dark place. I had wanted a dog forever, and finally DH gave in. He gave me the unconditional love and support I needed, and a sense of purpose I hadn't felt before. I felt as if I had given birth to him myself, and I still do. Then, my children. They've made me a much happier, funnier, lighthearted person.

My career... I feel so lucky and blessed to be a nurse. I work with the toughest cases, pts. with dementia. It's so hard mentally, physically, emotionally but I think it has shaped me to be a really strong person in all those ways and I get paid for it too! I feel so fulfilled by my job and have such high satisfaction when a patient who is really sick leaves my unit in such a better condition than when he/she came in. I feel grateful to be challenged everyday.

Becoming an Oncology Nurse!!
I love my patients. I love the appreciation they have for life. It makes me want to go and do everything and see everything. It has been a life changing thing for me, this new career. It has its anxiety filled moments and such sad moments but the good 100% outweighs the bad.
I've seen patients diagnosed with cancer, go through hell and back, then visit a few months later and their outlook on life is just awe inspiring. I am so happy I took the leap to do this.
Oh and my husband and kids are pretty great too

Re: Best thing that happened to you
Marrying my husband. He is my best friend and an amazing husband and father. He is so attentive to me and my feelings...he listens to me, helps me, makes me laugh and i just love being around him. He also gave me my 3 wonderful children and has works his butt off to give us a beautiful home and life.
My parents and my sisters always joke that they don't know how I got so lucky...but i agree
