Bethenny Frankel Ordered to Pay Jason's Attorney Fees in Divorce:
I'm sorry - like the article states, love or hate her, this shit is messed UP...
Bethenny Frankel better hurry up and get this divorce settled and done before she hemorrhages any more money! In the latest temporary order in her financial portion of the divorce from Jason Hoppy, Bethenny has to fork out another $100,000 toward his lawyer fees and then some.
I don’t care if you love or hate Bethenny and I GET that the law in NY states that the wealthier spouse has to carry the brunt of the financial responsibility, but come on! These two were only married for two years and Jason may *only* make $100,000 a year, but when is it too much? Check out the list of money that Bethenny has pay to Jason since she’s the breadwinner in this short lived union.
- An additional $100,000 to Jason’s lawyer
- $600 a month for Bryn’s school tuition
- $900 a month in Bryn’s extracurricular activities
- $12,000 in alimony per month
- $ 3,000 in child support
- $11,000 a month for maintenance on their $5 million apartment HE lives in.
This divorce has been going on for three years already and apparently Jason has already racked up $700,000 in legal bills. That’s not including Bethenny’s own lawyer fees and other expenses. These people could be feeding an entire poverty-stricken city with their attorney fees alone! It’s mind-boggling!
Bethenny needs to get this guy to agree to a settlement and get it over with so she can move on and focus on more positive things. I can’t wrap my head around the financial drain much less the emotional drain of this thing – it has been going on forever!

ETA - I just want to point out that yes this does happen with the opposite, in terms of gender, and for me I think it is just as messed up then too! I don't think this is "worse" because she's a chick.

I agree too. No one makes a big stink when men have to shell out extreme amount of money for spouses and child support. What happens is she got rich after they were married, that is when she made that Skinny deal I believe

And since he's not paying any lawyer fees there's no incentive for him to agree on anything.
He can drag this on and on. He's got her and he's going to make her pay. It's almost as if she has to agree to all of his demands if she wants to stop racking up his legal fees.
It stinks and it goes both ways for some women and their husbands.

does anyone know why this divorce is so ugly? I know she appears as though she isn't the easiest person to deal with, but why is he so bitter and trying to drag this out and milk her dry?

I disagree that she shouldn't pay his attorney's fees. By allowing that, you will set up every marriage to lean towards the party with the most money who can afford the best lawyer.
As for expenses for their daughter, it's based on a proportion share of income, isn't it?
As for maintenance, I think that should be severely limited unless he worked & was instrumental in her businesses. He was a huge portion of her reality show post-marrriage.
