I don't see anything wrong with what they are doing about the baby's name. They are not trying to prevent anyone else from every naming their child Blue Ivy.
They don't want other people to profit from using their daughter's name "Blue Ivy Carter". What is so wrong about that. They have worked hard to get where they are today and for some random person to simply come out with a product labled with the name of a famous child, why should they make tons of money off of it?
And I bet the same people who want to use the baby's name are the same ones who thought Beyonce was faking her pregnancy.
I say good for them!

Re: Beyonce and Jay-Z trying to trademark Blue Ivy
From a business aspect...preserving your name and brand for use solely by you is smart...BUT while Blue Ivy is a unique HUMAN name...it's not so unique of a combination for a business name as someone originally posted...there are already plenty of "blue ivy" businesses that exist and have existed long before J&B decided to procreate.
It just seems odd to me that the baby just turned 1 month old and already there are reports of crazy outlandish gifts (a jewel encrusted bottle??? isn't that a choking hazard?), 6 nannies and trademarking the babies name. It seems like the priorities are off. When do you turn of "music mogul mode" and turn on "mommy mode". This time goes SOOOOO quickly and if you don't slow down and just ENJOY being a new parent...you'll miss it!
ETA: I do kind of think the baby name comes off as a little vain. My favorite color is blue, I love cheese, doesn't mean I'll name my son blue cheese. The other rumors, while not confirmed nor denied...only fuel the image of vanity people seem to be getting.

if you read a previous post 2 people have already submit applications to trademark Blue Ivy Carter... so its happening and it sounds like J&B are doing this to try to prevent those from going through

I read that...and I get that...but I still feel the same about what I said. having other people use "Blue Ivy Carter" is strange and sad that they need that to boost their business. But as far as already talking about creating a baby line with that name...how bout you focus on being a new parent first? KWIM?

I literally cannot stand hearing another word about these people. I wish they would just leave the planet already. They truly disgust me.
I can't stand their arrogance.

Actually.. I don't think it's a terrible thing. I mean other people are trying to cash in on their fame and their child. Why is it terrible to try to patent the name to prevent that? And big effing deal if they decide they want to create a line of baby things. They are famous, people like them and they can make money that will likely be Blue Ivy's inheritance one day.

agree. and since they are such big and powerful people, all they have to do is go on twitter or their website or make a few phone calls to let the world know they do not endorse the products out there with their daughter's name. that would be enough to make people not buy them since they are NOT b&j products and that's the only reason people would buy them.

Re: Beyonce and Jay-Z trying to trademark Blue Ivy
I think they're getting a lot of flack which isn't warranted. I'm sure they're focused on being new parents. It's not like they don't have a business manager looking after their assets.
It could have been a quick conversation with the parents "Look, people have submitted trademarks for your kids' names. Do you want to consider getting one to protect your child's interests in the event that down the line you or they decide to market something?" "Sound good to me."
Application is submitted. JayZ & Beyonce get a bill from the lawyer & the business manager takes a cut.
If they were waiting on line at the trademark office & left their child unattended, then I'd judge.

Exactly... to imply that they arent focused on their baby because they are doing this is just silly.

I agree. A lot of people - famous or not - name their businesses after their children.
I think it's far worse that some random stranger is trying to capitalize on the name by implying there is a real connection from their product/service to B&J.
I agree.
It's not like they are trademarking it so someone else can't name their kid that. They are trademarking the name so no one else can profit from it creating products using their kid's name.
exactly! very smart of them actually.
