BF baby rejecting the bottle - advice please!
DD is 5 months old - I've always pumped and given her a bottle once or more a week (as I needed to be out of the house).
For the past few weeks she's been rejecting it completely. I've tried different types of bottles, different level nipples, having my DH feed her while I'm not in sight, etc. I'm at such a loss and need help! I'm supposed to have a meeting in Manhattan tomorrow and don't know if I can go if DD won't take the bottle!
TIA!

I've tried both fresh and frozen milk - I have no problem trying formula but I don't think that's it She seems to be chomping on the nipple instead of sucking

Re: BF baby rejecting the bottle - advice please!
DS never did take a bottle until after we started solids, so I'm not sure I can give you any advice. Except maybe try a sippy cup? Or if you're just really concerned about your meeting tomorrow, even a regular cup just to make sure whoever is watching her gets some milk in her. But to be honest, I wouldn't worry too much, if she's really hungry she'll take it. Good luck!

Re: BF baby rejecting the bottle - advice please!
DS would not take a bottle last night while I was out. It was the first time this has happened and I thought it was just because he hasn't had one in a while. When I defrosted some frozen milk for his cereal this morning and the milk smelled a little strange. I defrosted a few more and they all smelled the same. I'm not sure why, but I got rid of all of the milk. I had never had a problem freezing milk before so I'm not sure what happened to this batch.

Re: BF baby rejecting the bottle - advice please!
I had this problem with DS#1...He had been mostly BF except I did what you're doing -- gave a bottle at least 1-2x/week to be sure he'd take it.... At week 12, 2 days before I was supposed to go back to work, he refused the Dr Browns bottles completely. We went to BRU and bought every type of bottle and nipple and tried almost all of them before he finally took the Playtex nurser. It was really frustrating, but it worked out...good luck with DC and with your meeting tomorrow. Hope all goes well.

DS really had a hard time taking bottles and would refuse them often. It helped to use a bottle that had a wide nipple more similar to the breast (you might want to try the tommee tippee) and the breast milk needed to body temperature. If the milk was too cold he would refuse it. Good Luck!

I understand your concern, but if baby eats before you go, and right when you get back, and if you have someone you trust with her, she is going to be a-ok. Its just one day. If she's hungry she'll drink. If she doesn't she'll make up for it when you are home.

Same thing happened to mine after a while. Apparently sometimes the enzymes in your milk change properties when frozen - it's completely fine to give it to the baby if he will take it, but some are picky about it. My DS refused it too.

I am having the same problem. DS refuses the bottle and screams when we try giving it to him. He seams to chew the nipple and not suck on it. I just ordered the tomee teeppe bottles bc I heard they were good for BF babies. I hope they work. Good luck.
