BF mom's - sleeping dilemma
So DD used to be able to fall asleep drowsy. The past few nights, I can't remember how many, she has fallen asleep nursing so I put her down. I realize this was becoming a habit so I tried to break it last night by nursing her than giving her a bath and having my DH put her to bed. Well, she screamed for one hour straight. We tried the bottle, swing, walking with her, etc. nothing. So, I pop her on the boob and she goes fast to sleep. Ahhhhhh!!! I start work soon and have evening hours some days and need this habit to stop! I love BF, but it is frustrating that I seem to be the only one who can put her to sleep!
Anyone else experience this or have any advice?
Thanks!

Re: BF mom's - sleeping dilemma
i used to have the same problem - the only thing that works is swaddling him and giving him a pacifier. he can usually put himself to sleep that way. if he is cranky but awake, and he has already eaten, i put him in his that way with the ocean wonders aquarium on and it takes awhile but he will go to sleep after 20 minutes or so.

Ah, we just got rid of the swaddle a month ago...

Re: BF mom's - sleeping dilemma
I nurse Ryan before bed but when I figure out that he's not eating - just sucking, I so a switch and put the binky in his mouth. Actually, at this point, I give him the binky and he pulls off the breast and pops it in himself when he's ready. Maybe try that to get your DC more used to the paci?
I know it's hard to hear them cry but if you're working and your DH has to put her down, she will get used to it.

Re: BF mom's - sleeping dilemma
Honestly, DS always fell asleep nursing...now sometimes he will fall aslep with the bottle and sometimes just put himself to sleep. I wouldn't stress too much over it!

I am only stressing b/c I don't want it to be the only way she falls asleep, it's another thing to stress about with going back to work. I honestly don't think she would have stopped crying last night, we were a good hour in of full blown screaming and she instantly stopped as soon as I BF her. She takes the paci, but it was not soothing her she just kept spitting it out.
I guess I will just keep trying again each night!

honestly if she was screaming like that maybe she was just still hungry.
either way i definitely feel your frustration - DS would only fall asleep after nursing until i started using the pacifier a few weeks ago. good luck

I know, I tried the bottle though and she kept hitting it away!
