BFing moms: did you get better output with hospital grade pump?

i am thinking of renting one now that i am back at work. i have the medela pis, but i find that my output decreases steadily during the day until it's just measly Chat Icon

my LC said that my output might improve with a stronger pump.

Isn't it obvious?

ABSOLUTELY! The Medela I have doesn't compare with the "suck" of the one I rented from the LC.

I have the medela, and my supply did drop when i first started using more frequently b/c dd doesnt want breast and working.. but the past week its been working really well. I just increased my fluid intake, and now im going to try drinking the tea that Mrs. Patticakes recommended.

Hospital grade helped, but breast compressions helped more.

ITA, I love the Medela Symphony ($60 a month). Well worth it.

I have the PIS advanced and I do remember my output decreasing slightly when I switched over from the Latina that I rented. It did go back up in a few days though.

ETA: make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids while you are at work!

Re: BFing moms: did you get better output with hospital grade pump?

I had a medical grade pump and was never a good pumper. I had no issues nursing for nine months, but it took me forever to pump an oz. I spoke with my lactation contultant about it and she said some people are just not good pumpers. But I would try the strongest pump before drawing that conclusion.

Yes, I loved the Ameda I rented. My Medala is what I used at work and it just wasn't the same.

I may be weird, but I got the same output from the hospital grade pump as I got from my Medela PIS Advanced. Definitely make sure your drinking enough water & you can always try fenugreek.

ETA, like the below poster, it was just a quicker fill w/ the hospital grade pump.

Re: BFing moms: did you get better output with hospital grade pump?

Since I work in a hospital I had the luxury of using the hospital grade pump for free while I was working! I never had a problem with output but with the hospital pump I was able to fill up the bottles much quicker. I probably could have gotten more BM out then I did at home but never had the time to sit around and find out.

I had fantastic results with a Medela Symphony pump. It was well worth the money.
