BFing moms that lost the weight
How did you do it without affecting your milk supply? I'm on a dairy/soy/egg free diet and STILL not losing the weight, so I have to figure something out! When you started losing weight did your supply dip? Should I calorie count? I'm so frustrated!!!

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
I hear ya, but I don't have any answers I have been afraid to calorie count/diet because I was worried it might impact my supply. The only thing I have been doing is walking, but I really haven't lost any weight since I have birth. Let me know if you want to go for a walk

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
I ate, but I ate healthy (always have). I was always hungry when BFing so I made sure to have healthy snacks in the house or at work. And ONLY drank water and some oj in the morning. Also, are you exercising?

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
I did a lot of excercise mainly walking, even when it was cold and nasty out I made sure I went for a walk every day with DS. It was good for me mentally too made me feel like I accomplished something that day. I never really watched what I ate, bc mainly I was ravenous from nursing esp in the beginning, once he started sleeping through the night (and I wasn't so exhausted during the day) I started doing a workout video a couple times a week as well as the walking (mid-day usually). Its hard to find time but like I said as long as I got out the door with the stroller I felt a whole lot better and the lbs melted off, seriously never thought I could wear a bikini again and I did that summer. Still nursing at 11 mos, now for whatever reason my appetite has spiked again I feel like I'm eating everything. I didn't notice the weight loss though prob until 4 mos in.

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
I honestly didn't do anything to lose the weight. I gained 45 lbs. A lot of the weight was due to severe swelling. I lost it all by 8 weeks PP though I did eventually gain 5-10 lbs back as DS started nursing less often. I was at my heaviest before getting pregnant so I definitely had more weight to lose. I finally started to work on losing that weight when DS was 18 months old.
One of my friends is having a hard time losing weight. Some people tend to hold onto extra weight while BFing. You can safely lose 1-2 lbs per week without it affecting your supply. Here's an article on dieting while BFing: Diet

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
Ugggh I feel the same way! I made a thread the other day about it but then deleted it b/c it sounded like a pity party.
I am in the same boat as you, I have always eaten healthy and I am on the same diet except eggs, I really don't know what else I can do.
I am hoping that when I stop nursing it will all melt away miraculously and instantaneously
I don't even know if I am eating enough at this point, I am ALWAYS hungry, even right after I eat. I have considered counting calories as well. It might be a good idea for a week or two just to see what our average calorie intake is??
Your not alone! This stinks

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
i ate healthy and normal amounts. but a lot of it just took time. with both babies, i lost a bunch right away, then nothing for a few months, and then it started coming off again.

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
DD will be 6months in 2 weeks. I gained 35lbs during my pregnancy and was at a good weight before. Initially I lost 20lbs. However, it was not until I got serious about watching what I ate and exercising. No calorie counting, I eat when I am hungry, which is a lot, I just changed WHAT I ate. For example, instead of a chicken salad sandwich, I have chicken salad on actual salad etc. I cut out all drinks except for water and tea. The big thing is, the working out! I got a personal trainer 4weeks ago and have dropped 5lbs. I am not going to lie, it is hard, but if you put your mind to it, you can do it.
On a side note, I think we need a PP weight loss thread/support group!
PS I am not perfect, I just ate a cookie

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
I lost most of the weight by doing nothing. It slowly came off. I have about 20 pounds to lose from before I got pregnant. I'm waiting until I go back to work... then, I do a regiment.

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
I really hung on the weight for about 3 months. THen it started to come off. I didn't do anything with my diet. But, I didn't see too much of a difference until 6 months pp.. By about 7-8 months it was all off but, it was different. KWIM? Still not fitting correctly even though the weight was the same/.

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
I have lost all the weight in 4 months - watching my diet mainly, but it has DEFINITELY affected my supply :( I had wanted to exclusively BF for as long as possible, but I am struggling now. I didn't realize it was a cause:effect relationship and now I am not sure if I should add more fat to my diet or not. I've read that it is harder to build you r supply so late after giving birth. It is a double edged sword, I guess...

Re: BFing moms that lost the weight
This thread has me thinking-maybe we can make a walking group or like a PP said, a support group?
I still need to lose 35 and I am desperately trying to get my stomach flat again.

I don't know if you work during the week or not and where you live, but there is a walking group that meets at Cedar Creek park on Monday mornings. I've only been once or twice, but will start going regularly starting next week. If you can, you should come! I think the support group is a great idea also. I'm 6.5 months PP and although the scale says I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight, I look and feel so much flabbier than I used to. Need to lose about 25 lbs and tone up.

Right now I am not working (I will be starting my own law practice soon!). I am in Suffolk, but I am always willing to travel! I have to look at the time because of traffic and nap reasons, but if I can, I would love to come!
I feel the same. I am 10 or so pounds below my pre-preggo weight but my belly looks like a deflated balloon and my chest is just disgustingly huge. I know I can't do anything about the chest area, but I want to tighten the tummy and make my thighs smaller.
