BFing moms who are currently losing weight...

For those of you who bf or did bf in the past and lost weight (and I'm not talking about immediately pp - the weight was falling off then too and I thought for sure I'd be back to my prepregnancy weight really quickly Chat Icon ) What does your typical day look like in terms of food and exercise? I think I'm eating too much but I'm afraid eating less will affect my supply. If you can give me a typical menu for the day that would really help. I'm so sick of looking like this! Can't really blame the baby anymore - she's 6 months old!

I was told by a good friend who is a LC that you only need 500 calories to produce milk. I never worried about how much I ate in terms of losing my supply as for the weight loss I'm no help. I got back to pp weight 2, weeks after ds2 was born but I still never lost my weight from ds 1.

Don't beat yourself up. I wore maternity pants for a YEAR after giving birth because I refused to buy bigger clothes and I was too heavy to fit in my regular clothes. DS will be 2 next month and I'm still up 10 lbs but can at least fit in my clothes.

Once DS started solids and for a few months after, weight started to fall off without me even trying. The crazy hunger I was experiencing also subsided. Eat when you're hungry, avoid snacking if you're not. It will come off. I'm still nursing 1x per day, so I'd like to think those 10 lbs coupled with bad snacking habits are to blame.

I never had a supply with my milk. I learned with DD1, you don't lose wt because you are BFing. I learned I needed to stop eating like I was still pregnant Chat Icon

I just finished BFing after a year, but my diet was nothing special, I just ate sensible! Plus I had a 3yo who I needed to be a good example for, so I snacked MUCH less and I kept a lot of healthy stuff on hand, so she saw me eating it too. I also realized I was snacking a lot & it was not helping the wt. So, I often made lunch when I had the chance and ate it later, rather than getting to the point of starving and eating everything and everything.

I finally got to exercise more regularly around 6 months pp and that's when I lost the rest & finally toned back up!
