BFing- My DS is eating every 2 hours...
like clockwork since he was about 3/3-1/2 wks. He's 4-1/2 wks now. (Prior to that he was eating about every 3 hrs.) About when will he start going a little longer between feedings?
This is making me a little tired and I need some

I formula feed DS, but from what I understand babies who BF eat more often b/c I think the milk is not as thick so it doesnt fill them as much. Is he falling asleep during feedings? Do you know how much he is getting? Maybe he isnt getting enough at his feedings?

It wasn't until after 8 weeks that there was more time between feedings. Also, during growth spurts they want to nurse all of the time. The beginning is hard and tiring, but it gets easier.

Oh man, way to scare her. That timing is totally normal for the age. Let me put her "not as thick so it doesnt fill them as much" in a positive way -- they can digest breastmilk much much easier, so they are ready for more sooner. (Note: fewer BF babies with reflux issues) I saw a change around 6 weeks and started getting a longer stretch at night.
The timing of his feedings does not in any way indicate that he isn't getting enough and you don't need to know how much he is getting -- you just need to know he seems satisfied for at least a little while immediately after eating, has wet diapers, and is gaining weight.
Keep up the great work momma, it will get easier soon!!

Re: BFing- My DS is eating every 2 hours...
Thanks. I knew that 2 hrs is completely normal from my reading- and he's been gaining really well. I've never really worried about how much he was getting. (7 lbs 1 oz at birth to 8 lbs 4 oz at his wk ped appt-- and has definitely gained since then). It's just very tiring! And I've been wondering when the end of this frequent feeding phrase was in sight.

Actually I think BM is more filling then formula which is why they require less oz per feeding to satisfy them. However since it's so easily digested they get hungry more often.
